Remember that this is where his discussions with El Salvador began. The migrant detentions there are the dry run. He wants to ship U.S. prisoners to El Salvador. We cannot sleepwalk through this.

Today, America dropped the torch of “Leader of the Free World”. It became too heavy. Our leaders’ hands are too weak for anything but dipping into open pockets and groping at unwilling flesh. Now Europe picks up that torch, and Ukraine shall be the torchbearer 🇺🇦

'Tis the season for Kramptoldt! He's out to catch the guinea pigs who've been naughty during this most wonderful time of the year. There will be much more of my character, Bertoldt, seen here in one of his many incarnations. And more peegs, of course! 2022

I feel like I'm a lawful plotter. Maybe not that extreme though. I don't know the sock color... but I am colorblind so that could be the reason.

Once I was a tree Tall and proud, my Branches swayed above All Things, the world Beneath me on the ground Soaring were my timbers! Resplendent were my leaves! Now I am but ash and cinder, made of smoke, floating in the breeze But a memory still lingers A scent from when I was A tree

This is Theo. He's always looking out for his older sister Mia. Sometimes that means simply making sure she gets enough pets at day care. 13/10 for both

Daily art post. This is actually the last oil painting that I was working on. I stepped away from it because I was having a very hard time. I don’t feel like it’s done but I also don’t know what to do with it. If anyone has any critique I’ll take it. #art #artshare #oilpainting #wip

O statue, do not weep Though the world has cracked your stones, and factory rains have seeped their acid through your marble bones Wipe the dust-tears From your eyes And grab my open hand For though I am not made like you, and have not borne the rains like you, I still can help you stand

I don't know why I'm throwing my crust into this fight, but here goes: does listening to an audiobook count as reading? Books and audiobooks are both methods to enjoy a story. But for obtaining information, book and audiobooks are NOT the same. I will show you why (1/5)

The font gives clues that these two paragraphs had different authors, and context that for this book, there are two authorities at work making this book--one scientific and one religious. This is information that *would not be available through an audiobook* (4/5)

Books and audiobooks are different media and require completely different skills. If enjoying a story is like eating, reading is knowing how to stir fry, and listening to audiobooks is like knowing how to bbq. One is active, the other passive. Both are great. But they are not the same. (5/5)

In another life, my job involved helping academics with their English writing. One of my clients was a scholar from a Muslim country doing research on petroglyphs. They shared with me a sample from an English language science textbook written for Muslim countries. This is why I know (2/5)

There were two paragraphs in the book that struck out. One described how rock formations were formed. Standard science stuff. The next paragraph, *written in a different font and voice*, completely cancelled out the last paragraph and declared all rocks on the Earth were a work of God. (3/5)

An audiobook tells a story. So does a book, or a painting, a movie, or a line-graph. They all tell stories in different ways and require different skills. More importantly, whatever the opinion, we should talk to others here with respect. Take this opinion as you will, I am just a bread 🍞

Dear higher-ed research land: Is there a study that shows whether college students are more likely to persist or graduate, or improve GPAs, if they're not food-insecure, and this study shows this by somehow matching student individual academic records and their access to food (meaL plan, SNAP, etc)?

Absolutely true. Negativity is like acid, reacting with whatever it touches, leaving burns and scars. Positivity endures for much longer. That said, there’s a time and place for all things. If too much negativity is caustic, too much positivity is smothering.

One thing I've learned in my life is that positive energy replaces negative energy, though you may not immediately see it. Negativity burns out quickly. X.
