Wildlife killing contests are the epitome of cruelty.

Thrilled that Dansville Fish+Game in NY just announced they’re canceling their "Squirrel Scramble." Why? Because killing contests for wildlife were banned in 2023. They knew it was illegal, tried to sneak around the law, got called out, + were ultimately forced to shut it down. So gross.

USFWS's Barred Owl Management Strategy to reduce the population of barred owls: to kill around 15,000 barred owls each year for 30 years, totaling about 450,000 birds. Criticisms include: Practicality, Ethics, Cost and the big one Recolonization.

We’re not just fighting for the lives of hundreds of thousands of owls, we’re fighting for a future of wildlife management that values the lives of animals. FWS should focus on protecting all animals, not simply killing those who adapt in the face of a rapidly changing climate!
