Atta' boy Luther!

Just a Star Trek nerd, web developer (30years), graphic designer, old movie fanatic, cigar smoker, sometimes professor, and general curmudgeon from Ohio. I have a ridiculous number of new and vintage toys too....

#filmsky #moviesky Closing in on my complete Elvis film watch, I added "Roustabout" to my list. A rather uneven film with Elvis and Leif Erickson playing rather hard to like characters until the end. The music is rather bland for an Elvis film too. Ah well, on to the next one....

Growing up Navy, I had a first-hand account of just how big Aircraft Carriers are on several occasions. This is the flight deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln, a Nimitz class carrier....the flight deck is 4.5 acres. Look at the size of a person standing mid-deck. The Ford class carriers are 5 acres.

TIL that the tough named "Licht" in North By Northwest and the Federation President in Star Trek IV are both played by the same actor....Robert Ellenstein. I've seen both films an incalculable number of times and never noticed. I mean, North by Northwest is my favorite film...how did I miss this?

#filmsky #moviesky #ElvisPresley Tonight's film was the rather hilarious and very fun "Kissin' Cousins" (1962) A rather different Elvis romp but just a silly and fun as any of his films. I still have 15 more Elvis movies to get through by the end of the year too!

Spider Noir is on deck....I have only one gripe about the show. If you are doing a period piece in the 1930s the music should always be within that time frame. Accentuate the Positive is from 1944. Cry Me A River is from 55 But...Andy Robinson is a bonus and Nic Cage is a blast.

Masters of the Universe was a ton of fun. I am a huge fan - I mean, I have all of the toys and never missed the cartoon when I was a kid...I still watch it and I am in my mid 50s. I am hoping for a sequel...which appears to be on the table a present...regardless of the box-office figures.

Another #ElvisPresley movie down - this time "Harum Scarum" (1965). This one is a lot more fun than I thought it would be. A rip-roaring adventure with loads of songs and plenty of action and comedy.

....winter in ohio - stuck indoors - too cold spring in ohio - stuck indoors - rain, storms, and floods summer in ohio - stuck indoors - pure swamp ass disgusting heat Fall in ohio - go outside for about a month before....

#filmsky #moviesky #ElvisPresley "It Happened at the World's Fair" is a typical Elvis viewing blast. The selected tunes therein are good ones, the supporting cast is terrific, and the story is cute. I wish the world were still this clean and simple.

#filmsky #moviesky #ElvisPresley Tonight's film is "It Happened at the World's Fair" (1963) In my bid to watch all of the King's films before the end of the year, I found I still have 18 to go! Ten minutes in and he's already necking with Batgirl! Final review forthcoming.

Every now and then, ol' Chatty (GPT) gets an image right. I described and quoted the scene from A Wizard of Earthsea on the moors of Osskil, and it did a pretty good job of illustrating it for me.

On a personal note, for storyboard class in college, I did the scene where Ged takes on the dragons of Pendor. It was over 125 drawings - shot by shot - and it was glorious. Got an A on it.

For no real reason, here are my favorite albums from 1980-89. These are albums I have listened to multiple times from start to finish....that was the only caveat I gave myself when assembling these lists.

I've been a web developer & designer for 30 years. And for 28 of those years, I have been a server administrator too....because in my job description it says *additional duties to be assigned* They literally assigned me someone else's job...just because they could.

The mournful countenance of David Janssen is one of the best things about The Fugitive. One of the best classic shows anywhere and a fine example of "they don't make shows like this anymore".

#filmsky #moviesky I haven't done a #randomscreenshot of the day in a while....so here's the incredibly lovely and talented Ann Sheridan in Howard Hawk's "I Was a Male War Bride". The third Cary Grant movie I ever watched.

No matter how many times I watch it, the fact that Favreau basically adapted Lone Wolf and Cub into a Star Wars story still blows me away. The first two "seasons" of The Mandalorian are 10/10, with season 3 maybe 8/10 after a re-watch.

One of my favorite books has always been The Green Futures of Tycho by WIlliam Sleator. I did some work with ol' Chat GPT and came up with some Pixar style character studies. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it.

#MovieSky #FilmSky What a killer film! A "lost" films that Vinegar Syndrome brought out in HD, "Paradise of Terror" from 1965. It feels like an episode of the Twilight Zone with a very unique feel. Terrific cinematography too! Starring Charles Macaulay - Landru from Star Trek! Worth watching!

#filmSky #MovieSky Tonight's selection is "A Prize of Gold" (1955) starring the one and only Dick Widmark. He's another one of those actors that could sit in a chair for 2 hours and it would be entertaining to watch. I've been dying to watch this one for years and it finally got an HD release!

So Capri Sun came out in US in the early 80s and instantly became the staple lunch beverage for those of us that brown-bagged (or lunch-boxed) every day. My question is: why did it take 45 years for them to realize the nectar of the gods belongs in a bottle and not just a two-swallow foil pouch?!?
