This is more superficial than the core issues surrounding AI, but those of us who don't want to use it increasingly have to invest that much more time and effort to work around it. As so often happens, tech has manufactured a problem so that they can claim to be offering a solution.

It's amazing to have an iconic artist share gems from their vault while they are still alive, as opposed to their estate offering up questionable odds and ends posthumously. This is 5😯!

I don't think it's too strong to say that Colin Kaepernick changed my life a decade ago. His last season as a football player was my last as a football fan. He helped me see that the game didn't align with my values. 1/

It was special to spend a couple of hours in the presence of Claudia Rankine yesterday. Thank you to the Baltimore Book Festival, City Lit Project, Red Emma's, the Parkway Theatre, and especially Carla Du Pree and Dr. Karsonya Kaye Whitehead for a meaningful occasion!

NEW: The new Apple Watches double as AI-powered listening bugs for generating convo "recaps" or transcripts of any previous 15 seconds. But fear not, Apple says, this data isn't sent to Apple/gets encrypted, speakers aren't ID'd, and there's a chime for the 15-second thing. @lhn.bsky.social reports:

wired.comApple Doesn’t Want You to Worry About the New Apple Watch’s Listening FeaturesThe new Apple Watch includes several “intelligent” listening features that have privacy and security baked in. But the protections can’t change the facts of what the tools do.
