Its response was Based on the official Bastard Burgers Sweden location page, there are 58 open restaurant locations in Sweden: On its own list there were 67! I responded Is it 58 or 67? It replied You caught a counting error—there are actually 67 branches listed on the page.

I've seen 22 of the The 100 Best TV Shows of the 21 Century. Wondered where The West Wing was, but that started in the last millennium in 1999.

Just a reminder of some basic economics, as in demand and supply analysis. If you raise the price of something, the quantity demanded will fall. If you raise the price of something that has many substitutes, your total revenue will fall.

I wasn’t exactly sure what was going on, but as the day progressed it became much more apparent what had happened.   I listened to the radio on the way home. I went to the gym and as I cycled away on the cycle machine the news was on the screens in front of me.

The devastation and destruction was shown. It was awful.   The cycle of news, of the plane crashing, the towers collapsing, the dust and debris cloud was right there in my face and it just added to my shock and disbelief.   Those memories of that day have stayed with me ever since then.

However of course realised later on that it was excessive demand on their servers which was causing their site to fail to load.   In the end I went to the canteen where the news was on the TVs in there and there was loads of people, students and staff, just watching the TVs.

…and on this day twenty years ago. We even had a shared wiki. Back then there was no social media to speak of, virtually no blogging, and certainly no BlueSky. #altc2006

...and there I was hoping I was from Rhode Island. "You talk most like someone from Connecticut — about 45% of your answers match a typical resident."

Libraries tossing out weeded titles is not a travesty. 🧵 1. libraries MUST weed. We don't have magic shelves with unlimited space. 2. we do try to find alternatives to recycling. Book sales, free tables, and places like Better World Books get the majority of weeded titles. 1/3

Make your favorite film sound as boring as possible without giving away the title: Shop owner has a few dates.

A colleague was convinced I had an Australian accent. Born in Somerset, formative years in Buenos Aires and Essex. Went to school in Cambridge and was at university in Yorkshire. Now living in the West Country, i think we can say my accent is “special”.
