This week I moved teams at AWS so that I can focus more on building Agent Experience around the SDKs, CLI, and Docs. I'm super excited to get back a more engineering focused role and enable AWS users to be amazingly productive in their AI agents!

I'll continue representing Amazon on the Agentic AI Foundation Technical Committee. Building is just so much fun right now! Let me know if there are things you'd like to see us improve with the AWS Agent Experience.

Super fun session with @maritvandijk.bsky.social about Agent Skills and SkillsJars

Skills are a great way to bring specific knowledge into your AI. But how do you manage your skills? @jamesward.com built SkillsJars to manage your skill.md files like any other dependency. 🎥 Watch the full episode: youtu.be/Wi-dSxZMoGU

Just improved agent experience in sbt-reload by adding reloadStatus, reloadPause, and reloadResume tasks. Use your AGENTS<dot>md to tell the AI to pause the reloader when making a sequence of changes.

It's all just there @jamesward.com 😁 This is valid Kotlin in 2.4.0 😍 On top of that Kotlin has so many other awesome features to combine this with, and you can write all the code examples from your book effect oriented programming in very elegant ways. You should really give this a proper spin.

Super excited to announce the Spring AI Amazon Bedrock AgentCore 1.0 release! This release makes it super easy to deploy Java / Kotlin Spring AI agents on AWS. You can also use AgentCore Memory, Code Interpreter, and Browser either with your agents on AgentCore Runtime or running wherever you want.

What most devs get wrong about MCP is thinking that it is primarily for AI code assistants. MCP is primarily useful as an enterprise integration protocol.

There has been a huge gap between the world of AI and enterprises' needs. In episode #112 of Happy Path Programming, @bruceeckel.bsky.social and I chat with Rod Johnson about his Embabel Agent Framework and how it helps improve reliability, cost, and other 'ilities when building agents.

Of course you can build a multi-turn MCP-based Agent on top of Amazon Bedrock Converse and the MCP Java SDK, just with a lot more code than abstractions (Spring AI, Quarkus, Langchain4j, etc). Here's the code: github.com/aws-samples/...

I'm primarily a back-end developer and I've struggled to understand how to bring AI into my systems. Luckily I was able to sit down with @starbuxman.joshlong.com and learn about how Spring AI makes this all super easy, including integration with MCP servers and RAG with vector data.

Thanks Christian and other Spring AI devs for making it so easy to work with Amazon Bedrock & MCP! Here is the corresponding video that @starbuxman.joshlong.com and I created: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y291... And the code: github.com/aws-samples/...

Great article by @jamesward.com on defining AI agent tools with simple annotations, connecting to external systems, and deploying on #AWS easily. #SpringAI #MCP components integrate with Amazon Bedrock for powerful AI applications. community.aws/content/2v8A...
