This piece is like my nightly trip to the bathroom.

This ode to Colbert is an insightful read on leadership & legacy. The two obsessions of JD didn't click for me until now: he's a scholar of presidents & singer/songwriters. POTUS & performers like Prine & Dylan stand before a crowd. Some are there for the people. Some are there for themselves.

Alsobrooks is compromised. Note how she avoids using 'crypto' to describe this 'digital revolution'.

Senator Angela Alsobrooks@alsobrooks.senate.gov

I want each and every American to benefit from this digital revolution that is upon us — and it’s on Congress to keep them protected from risks associated with it. We will keep working.

This series is so good! The history of FEMA is intertwined with decades of corruption, deregulation, and incompetence and ML brilliantly connects the (in)actions of our elected officials to their visceral human consequences.

On the Media@onthemedia.bsky.social

For all of FEMA’s faults, and there are many, can we really afford to dramatically scale back the agency, especially with another potentially devastating hurricane season just around the corner? @micahloewinger.bsky.social investigates in a new four-part podcast series.

The Ezra Klein show is just fish and chips wrapped in newspaper.

"The left has a worried relationship with energy. It just wants to avoid the problems of fossil fuel energy use and decarbonization" Completely wild and absurd thing for Ezra Klein of all people to be saying!!!!!!! www.nytimes.com/2026/04/28/o...

Brilliant playbook by the greater Cory, but too many Dems are toothless (figuratively and literally). How do we make this happen while we wait for them to get primaried or get with the program? Open source the dockets? Crowd fund ICE bounties?

Overnight fall field trip every year in grade school to Gooseberry Campground in Fishlake National Forest. Highlight being terrorized by the wolf-child Annie Bangs which I later learned was one of the Mr. Christensen's (twins teachers; they took turns) wearing a dress and a wig.

"The public cannot hold anyone responsible for a decision that was never formally made. That is the difference between a war that passes through democratic institutions, however imperfectly, and one that doesn’t pass through them at all."

Another excellent OTM episode: from the threat to free speech to the front line protecting it w/ Ryan Broderick in-between. A Garage Day sandwich! Also: if you value this, subscribe for $12/mth. There's $15k on the line from a retired geography teacher (thanks George!) That's less than Disney+ 😜
