I had a simple card game I started to design and kinda ran into some roadblocks. So I started a new one. It's inspired by the video game Dispatch, where you deploy superheroes to various emergency events across a city. You get random heroes at the beginning of each shift and each have unique stats

It's definitely a numbers game. While I can technically play it for at least a full round, it's completely unwinnable due to some cards being functionally impossible to solve or heroes cannot get to the location. The main issue is that EVERY hero would need careful distribution of stats in design

If anyone sees this, I would be curious what your thoughts are. Do you feel like a game like this absolutely NEEDS a certain mechanism or feature? Would love to hear about it. I really hate working in a vacuum

There are five different stats (Strength, Element, Speed, etc) that are used to solve Emergency cards for Rep. If the card isn't resolved after some turns, you start to accumulate Panic. Accumulate too much Panic and you lose the game. You have four full Shifts (or Rounds) to get enough Rep to win.

So what do you all do with #boardgamedesign? So many places are so hush hush or openly hostile (reddit *cough*) about everything entry level that it's practically impossible for a solo noob to get any help with just figuring out some mechanics. I got a basic idea. I've got some playable stuff .

I just wanna bounce some ideas off people how to develop it further. Does anyone have a group or something that does this? I'm not gonna steal someones worker placement game and sell it. I just wanna know if these boss mechanics or a card idea seems cool or is a waste of time.

#miniaturepainters, where ya at? Here is my new project. Painting my entire Marvel Zombies collection. So here's my WIP for the first mini. Why not start with Thanos?

What's the best route to learning #Unreal Engine development? I'm not unfamiliar with programming and I've already got a design doc. I'm just needing to learn how to bring it to life. I see some tutorials but they seem a little too basic (like basic navigation) or they are for an outdated version

Are there still people in the #TTRPG space looking to recruit voice talent for an AP Series? I'm a long time #D&D Dungeon Master and player and also really have an interest in #Daggerheart as well. Anyone want to start a conversation?

I'm in a fledgling Daggerheart game that says they want to be a monetized Livestream but honestly it seems like they don't really understand what it entails. It seems like they just treat it like another casual home game. I'm just looking for a bit... More? Something professional?

I don't see streams where the talents didn't all have at least decent mics that provide clear voices. Or didn't have a dedicated play space where children are not running in the room. Obviously not everyone is a pro actor. But it's supposed to be entertainment to your audience. Not just for you.

For people that created a Livestream, I'd love to know what your thoughts were about starting it? What was the biggest hurdle? What did you wish you knew earlier? I'm just trying to inform myself and not let myself be immensely disappointed in the end if I put in so much effort and no one else does

Am I wrong for thinking that you cannot just approach a Livestream game like you would for a home game? They seem like very different things. There needs to be structure. There needs to be planning. I don't know how I could just think about turning on a camera and streaming my home game and wing it.

So this may be a long shot, but opportunities have been slim, but does anyone have leads on some good entry level (preferably remote) jobs in the #tabletop space? I live in a rather rural area and relocation isn't likely. I have some experience in Computer Science and band programming but no degree.

I am experienced in a few different RPGs as a GM and a player. I have a wide variety of board games and have some entry level experiences with design as well. I have a good mic set up. I have the ability to record video if need be. I'm looking for anyone who might need help in a fashion that relates

I can paint minis. I can write content of my own for RPGs. I have started to learn video editing with Davinci Resolve for my partners video content. I have a fair amount of versatility in this area.

Tariffs suck. Due to this nonsense, several of my pending #boardgame crowdfunding projects are pending delivery soon but are requiring additional payment to receive. Not a problem, I get it. It's a cost they hadn't anticipated. But for people who are now in between employment, this hurts.

This was a purchase made several years ago. Now I don't have funds to actually receive it due to the new cost. So then I simply have to forfeit the hundreds of dollars of product I could resell because I can't get the $30 to pay for the tariffs. I'm a mini painter. This is kinda what I do.

With #Switch2 finally fixing the horrific performance and visual issues with Pokemon Scarlet, I finally just decided to delete my Dave and start all over and experience it fresh. Haven't played since the first two weeks of its release. So upon starting up, and having the DLC at my disposal....

I gotta say that this game suffers from flawed design at a fundamental level. I haven't been exploring excessively. And I'm at the third gym and I'm level 45. The game doesn't know how to level the player and it shows. You can do a single quest branch and you'd easily be over leveled for the others.

Having Teal Mask makes this worse. The game really pushes this off the bat when you start a game. Pokemon in the area are sub level 10 when you arrive and I leveled my whole crew to 45 by the time Ogrepon was caught. I really hope Game freak addresses this if they are going to keep this formula.

One of the things about #boardgames that I've been trying to do better about is painting miniatures for the biggest games I have. I've definitely got a long way to go and lots of improvements to learn, but for someone painting for less than a year, I'm pretty damn proud. #AeonTrespassOdyssey

It almost feels wrong to be about three days out from the launch of a new #Nintendo system and not seeing ANY press coverage from it. I get that it's entirely because press doesn't have their consoles yet so therefore cannot do the normal reviews, etc, for all of it. Just feels weird.

So how are we expecting to play #Daggerheart online at this point? I have a digital book but none of the group does. Foundry VTT doesn't have Daggerheart modules. Roll20 isn't supporting it yet. And Demiplane requires a monthly sub to let my friends see the character creator

Things I have learned this year from gaming social media: If you are interested in a Nintendo console, you are immediately a corporate bootlicker, no matter what. Turn based games are bad, no matter what. People are ok with a Soulsborne game being hard, but heavy forbid an RPG like Expedition 33

So just today, I finally played and finished #Shadowofthecolossus It was pretty fun, but only playing now really highlights how rough it feels. If I played it back in the day, maybe the rough controls and floaty movement wouldn't have bothered me. But the biggest issue is that they never remade ICO

One month until the #Switch2 release. Really only feels like yesterday we heard about it in an official sense. Is there really anything aside from #MarioKartWorld that people are primarily looking forward to?

Still trying to keep painting my copy of #AeonTrespassOdyssey #boardgame So far I've done Hekaton, the Argo, all four starting Titans, and I'm now finishing up the Hermesian Pursuer. I had a lot of fun with blending the wings. I figured they should be the centerpiece anyways.

I'm by no means a pro. I've only got a few months of experience and I have zero art background before starting to paint. All that considered, I'm really pleased with this. I think this is about as good as I can do with painting for the time being

Wow. That #Switch2 preorder was simple. Simply clicked to wait in a line on Walmart. Waited forty minutes with my phone screen on and then my turn came up and was able to buy it. Easy.

I don't like that #Nintendo hasn't informed people through My NIntendo that they will actually be eligible for #Switch2 preorders. I have the registered Interest, and now I'm just waiting. Do I gamble and expect the offer? If I don't get it then, then I will have missed the retailer preorders.

Crazy! 2.2 million preorders were requested from #Nintendo for #Switch2 in Japan. To the point that Nintendo was not expecting such high demand and had to inform the public that they wouldn't be able to fulfill that many. For reference, the Switch 1 sold 360,000 in its first month in Japan.

It's been a rough year for me, I won't lie. Unemployment since February has been real hard and literally no real prospects to keep my livelihood going due to health issues. So to keep my sanity and do literally anything to feel productive and feel positive about something, I started painting #minis

The #boardgame #AeonTrespassOdyssey is by and far my favorite board game in the collection. And they got some real killer minis to boot. I'm not an artist by any means, and only really have a couple of weeks worth of experience doing this. Figured I would prime my entire core box and give it a whirl

Starting with the Argo. This mini represents the players on the overworld. It's one of the most persistent minis used in the game so here we are! The scale was hard to deal with as it's a floating city but I'm fairly happy with the end result. I will definitely do more but gotta start somewhere

I'm really not a fan of social media discourse at all around gaming. All it does it reward hot takes and bandwagoning. I swear no one has a single original thought. Yeah, we had console war marketing back in the day but everyone was isolated. Now, whenever someone sees their favorite content creator

say something, they just repeat it. So then you have hundreds of people blindly parroting the same nonsense. More often than not, it is a manufactured stance designed to create rage as well, because as the platform is designed, rage creates engagement. And engagement is rewarded.

Has anyone else noticed that so many arguments being made on social media right now almost seem to be arguing about nothing? Like the points being made don't even matter and it's just noise? Whether it's tariffs, or #NintendoSwitch2. It's literally just noisy bitching.

I'm starting to just think that it's not about anything in particular. I feel like there's some AI just very intentionally finding the ways to stoke the fires by responding to just whatever it can. Right now, it just happens to be related to Switch 2. AI bots like this do unfortunately exist.

If this is true, then there's no real benefit from anything here. People making arguments in good faith simply will not be heard and very little discussion will be had because it will get droned out by the AI hate. There are no real solutions. It just causes more problems.

This is very noticeably punctuated by the people I can see who are a little equally startled by this stuff too and when you interact with them, then they seem shocked that it's not immediately vile and confusing. Specifically, the discourse about Switch pricing. Like you can be opposed to the price.

That's fine. Everyone has a choice. But so much of it is just based on incorrect information regarding the presentation. And hearing Nintendolife confused about the seeming backlash because their own polls showed 7% of people refusing to buy. Not exhaustive, surely, but it paints a picture.

Someone can post an opinion and someone will respond with something only tangentially related if you really squint at it under the right light. Something that is not even accurate based on the most recent article. And when that gets responded to, it is further responsed to in an equally weird way.

Just a reminder, because apparently some people can't fathom it: If you plan on buying a #Switch2, you are not a bootlicker or a shill or a problem. You are just a consumer with a choice that some incredibly loud person disagrees with

Seriously, the hell is going on with social media and #Switch2? I'm baffled how much outright lying or disinformation there is when people are talking about it. I don't really care if you don't buy it, but outright lying about announced information is a wild thing to prove some weird point.
