I have a request of the #Geologists and #Geology fans. I am trying to build a YouTube channel looking at Geology in Pop Culture however in order to apply to make money I need a minimum number of subscribers, which I’m short of. If this interests you could you go and subscribe? youtube.com/@jazinator

youtube.comDinojimI am a geologist and paleontologist with years of experience and I enjoy dissecting geological references in Pop Culture, in particular the references that fly under the radar and are not noticed by t...

My current videos include #Disney ’s Snow White, #TaylorSwift ’s song Opalite, and Mary Shelley’s #Frankenstein. Upcoming videos include Edvard Munch’s The Scream and Antonio Stradivari’s violins.

Episode 3 of my Geology in Pop Culture YouTube series is now available! This is the first in a 3 part arc about Volcanoes and how they influence Pop Culture, first looking at Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and how it was influenced by the 1815 eruption of Mount Tambora. ⬇️ Link in the comments ⬇️

I bought these on a whim and they make me laugh because they remind me of the Lost fish biscuits but they actually taste pretty good. It’s ice cream inside a fish shaped cake cone.

Disaster home renovation update - I have installed the sliding glass door partition for the guest room (my former office). I was trying to find a picture of what this looked like before we tore down the wall but apparently I never took one. #basementrenovation #homeremodel

Regardless we wanted to open this room up to the rest of the basement but also allow a closed off guest room. This will also be the wife’s craft room/office.

This was an absolutely fantastic interview! Brendan is just a wonderful person to chat Star Wars with.

We are joined for an absolutely fantastic interview by “The Man Behind the Mask” himself, Brendan Wayne, AKA Din Djarin, AKA The Mandalorian. Brendan is best known as one of the trio of actors who portray the Mandalorian in the TV series and the recently released Mandalorian and Grogu.

You guys want to hear a short but adorable story that happened right in front of me at the baggage claim in NYC yesterday? I wasn't part of it and there are bits I didn't catch but holy crap, I can't stop thinking about it.

Episode 2 of my Geology in Pop Culture video series is now available! This episode we are looking at Taylor Swift’s song “Opalite”. What exactly is opalite and how does it relate to opals as well as the other mineral mentioned in the song, onyx? Link in the comments 👇 #Geology #TaylorSwift #Rocks

Make your favorite film sound as boring as possible without giving away the title: A zoo never opens because a man who doesn’t know how to drive in the rain fails at playing fetch.

The latest episode of the @talkintauntauns.bsky.social podcast just dropped, and I'm on it! I sat down with Jim Lehane to talk about my geolocation work, but also about my love of all things Star Wars... and how those two interests can sometimes overlap! www.talkintauntauns.com/2026/08/ep-2...

Honoring the ammonite that was found in the vineyard, the ammonite on the bottle is actually an artistic representation of Haeckel’s 1899 Douvilleiceras mammillatum Illustration…

… an ammonite that could not have been the one discovered since D. mammillatum is Cretaceous in age and not found in Argentina. The rocks found at the vineyard are Permian to Triassic in age, over 80 million years older than the illustrated specimen.

Newest project is done (essentially)! The wine barrel I posted about before became our vanity and sink. The bathroom esthetic is for an Irish pub type feel. This connects to the Bill’s room so we had to mostly gut the bathroom while doing the floor. #diyproject

During a total solar eclipse it is even possible to see stars out in the daytime if you are in the totality (complete coverage). However, during a partial solar eclipse, as seen on the bottle, you would not be able to see any stars because it would still be too bright out.
