President Obama just reminded us all something very important: he stopped Iran from getting a nuclear weapon, all without firing a single shot. Trump tore that deal up, and now weโ€™re seven months into a forever war that nobody wanted. That's not the victory we were promised.

If you look at Project 2025, and much of it has already been implemented, the Republicans and Heritage Foundation don't expect to ever have another Dem president or majority. They are all in for a new governmental model, and they've got the Supreme Court they need to do it. The window is closing.

โ€œI worked for what I have. I donโ€™t owe anyone anything.โ€ So you paved the roads you drive on? Built the power grid? Trained teachers? Invented the internet? Or did society provide the infrastructure, education and stability that made your success possible? โžก๏ธ No one makes it entirely on their own.

happy bday civil rights icon Ruby Bridges, b.1954, Tylertown, MS. "Don't follow the path. Go where there is no path and begin the trail. When you start a new trail equipped with courage, strength and conviction, the only thing that can stop you is you!"

This iconic 1971 photo of Gloria Steinem and Dorothy Pitman Hughes has always said so much without saying a word. Two women. Two raised fists. One shared fight for equality. Dorothy passed in 2022. Now Gloria is gone too. Two giants who helped change America. Rest in power, Gloria. โœŠ๐ŸผโœŠ๐Ÿพ

Do you know what China's been doing while we've been dropping bombs and allocating more money for new weapons? Beating us on alternative energy, manufacturing, high speed rail, technology, microchips, and infrastructure.

If American democracy fails, everything people here care about - Gaza, climate change, spelling reform, whatever - gets worse. (Just ask the people now dying in Africa.) So prioritize your voting as if you're a reasoning, capable adult, and not a single-issue child holding your breath.

Two months after the end of the Civil War, Union troops went to Galveston Bay, Texas, on June 19, 1865, to free over 250,000 enslaved people and enforce the Emancipation Proclamation.

Big tent of Division. Meanwhile, our country is being destroyed by a republican reality tv host & the minimum wage is a measly $7.25 since 2009. ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ†˜

It really boils down to one thing. Republicans know exactly who's in charge of their party. Do Dems? (A big tent is useless if it's just chaos underneath and no one is in charge. Ownership in leadership is paramount.)

When I learned what Samuel Alito and the other Republican appointees to the Supreme Court did to the Voting Rights Act, I thought of my friend Mickey Schwerner. He and countless others sacrificed their lives fighting for the VRA. https://robertreich.substack.com/p/sam-alito-and-my-friend-mickey

"All we say to America is, 'Be true to what you said on paper.'" These words โ€” spoken by MLK Jr. shortly before he was killed on this day in 1968 โ€” ring just as true now. Let's honor his legacy by continuing the fight for social and economic justice.
