I absolutely LOVE this concept! This would be so much better than stilted Alexa chats, or Siri offering to show me if I ask the question again on my phone.

I spent the summer prototyping a device that projects information and imbues computing into the real world, I call it the Lightbulb Computer. Full write up and demos at lightbulbcomputer.com Or on YouTube: youtu.be/0R-9qkjPEqg

Trump met Xi at the airport? Who else has he ever done that for? Oh yes… Putin.

I can’t be the only developer who sees the word AI and inside screams “oh, fuck off!” I use AI to debug because I like how it can trawl through data at speed. But AI is not smart, it’s killing the planet, it’s made me sceptical of all I see and read online, and it’s making rich people richer.

For anyone who thinks Jason Arday wasn’t hounded because he was black, I’ll just leave this here. With over 3 million papers submitted every year, this interest in the ‘truth’ would have meant plagiarism in academia should have been front page news. Every day. For decades.

Reform UK have come up with an amazingly enlightened way to deal with the pesky fact that people with disabilities sometimes need extra support… Pretend they don’t exist! Sorted!

I’m pretty certain Harry Hill is at this celebration of life for my wife’s uncle. Passing himself off as a friend of the departed. To be honest, I can see him doing it. I think he’d find it amusing.

Les Anderson asking Justin on the Today programme “would you like 6 Afghani men living next door to you?” Genuinely sounds like he was making an offer. As though he had them in a van, ready to drop off.

Turns out Nige the saviour of the UK put on a massive party to celebrate his win at Clacton. He just chose to put it on nowhere near Clacton.

I have just listened to the local, UK, and World news headlines and can save you the bother. This gif sums up exactly what is happening. Everywhere. To everyone.

At first I thought this was a normal sized screen and very, VERY small man. I think I need to sleep.

A month ago I was bemoaning the state of @sanity.io - I was wrong. I’ve just spent the past couple of days setting up a new site & getting to grips with all the new features. Sanity haven’t spread themselves thin. They’ve made an epic platform to build… ANYTHING! 🥰 🤓 🧑‍💻

Joy of ADHD #36 A plan I made yesterday has now altered three times. So the decision part of my brain has now checked out and left me to it. 🧠

Anyone else feel that @sanity.io has lost its way a bit? I still love it, and the team behind it. But the quality feels like its dipped as they try to do so much. I spend more time debugging than I do building 😢

Here’s a thought: maybe don’t replace the nuclear weapons, because they are F**KING EVIL. Article from the Economist.

Palantir managing the NHS data is equivalent to Elon Musk managing all our schools data. Plus another sign of privatisation through the back door.

Good Law Project@goodlawproject.org

Over 26,000 have emailed their local trust to keep Palantir out of the NHS. Will you join them? https://notopalantir.goodlawproject.org/email-to-target/stop-palantir-in-the-nhs/?utm_source=twitter&utm_campaign=PalantirNHS&utm_medium=social_media

I do feel like this is a perfect moment for the western world to ween itself off its USA dependence. I think we help provide the US with its global power by buying into the narrative. It’s not that we make it powerful — it can do that itself — but we are a key ingredient.

Just coming home from the #UNGA at 80 event in London. It was an incredible line up and a beautiful venue but shoddily organised to say the least. Waited over two hours in a queue to get in only to watch latecomers stroll in front of us. Missed all the main speeches. Gutted. And £100 lighter to boot

Anyone know why drunk people on buses always listen to rubbish music? I’d have a lot more tolerance if it was Ministry, Led Zeppelin, or Bruch’s Violin Concerto. But it’s always tinny dub

I’ve just listened to part of The Epic of Gilgamesh in Akkadian whilst lying in bed. Proof that the internet can inspire as well as it conspires.

Richard Kadrey@richardkadrey.bsky.social

While doing research on ancient languages for a novel I'm working on I discovered Dr. Martin Worthington at Cambridge University. After years of study, he's come up with an approximation of Akkadian. You can listen to The Epic of Gilgamesh here: www.openculture.com/2010/10/the_...

It would take around 1.1 million acres of solar panels to (clean) power the world. That's less than a quarter of the number of acres devoted globally to golf courses. You can see where this is going, right...?

I’ve just realised how badly I’ve been neglecting BlueSky and how poorly I’ve been using it. I’m going to try and rectify this. Starting now… ish
