Now, rather than having to accept the fact that their failures are largely a result of their own flawed decision making, Trump has offered up reasons for their plight and someone else to blame for it.

In return Trump receives their complete, unrestricted and unquestioned loyalty. To do anything less would fracture their comfortable new world view where they are the victims and everything wrong in their lives is someone else's fault.

They have invested themselves so completely in Trump that they cannot allow anything to erode that bond. Trump has given them license to release all of their pent up anger, frustration and fear and then provided easy targets they can attack.
