I’m still going into the studio with very little idea about what I am going to do. Yesterday, my only idea was that I wanted to work with charcoal. Then these started to emerge.

Who are the people who are against the courts? Criminals, of course. America is led by a mob boss.

Rubio announces sanctions on the ICC: “Either the ICC will end its threats, or we will dismantle the ICC piece by piece.” A mob shakedown of an International Court of Law just because the big boss didn’t get the Nobel Peace Prize he wanted.

It's still not too late to get tickets for our hometown production of Annie, the musical! Opening night is tomorrow, and the production continues through to October 4th. Come see me play Drake the butler, and the rest of the very talented cast: thelandingsv.org/events/scott...

In between set load in shifts for Annie, I managed to get in a few more sketches of Wendy for War Bunny. I am still struggling to find a way to make bunnies look menacing. #warbunny #character_design #pencilsketch

For today's daily practice, I decided to break out the charcoal and just make up some figures out of my head. Here is one. #charcoaldrawing #figuredrawing #dailyartpractice

I have a daily art practice. During these sessions, I have no rules, no goals, no long term stuff gets worked on. It is a time for pure exploration. Today, two small works came out of this.

I'm working on a larger piece which features poison oak prominently. So, I am doing some pencil studies in order to grasp the finer details and structure of the plant.

Funny how life in the tech world repeats itself. Back in the day, you had to wait for computers to compile your high-level code to machine code. It was always a puzzle to figure out what to do while you waited.

Then, for a while, interpreted languages like Python and Javascript brought that wait down to near zero. Now, we are back again twiddling our thumbs while we wait for the computer to convert our prompts into high-level code.

Happy Father's Day to all the pops out there. My family took me out for brunch. On the way, I got to pick out the music, so I chose the GenX classic, the Heavy Metal Movie Soundtrack. I think everyone really enjoyed how I described in detail how each track was used in the movie.

One of the great difficulties in life is that reality and what makes you feel good are often very different things. Sometimes, they are diametrically opposed.

Jeff Bezos on Trump: "Trump has lots of good ideas, and he’s been right about a lot of things." and "I think he is a more disciplined version of himself than he was in his first term." Why is it so hard for Bezos to criticize Trump?

The answer is obvious. Bezos doesn't want to lose out on Federal contracts that he needs so badly for Blue Origin. So, his ambition outweighs any kind of moral standing, or principles he may have. Either that, or he really doesn't have any.

I've been building this for the last year or so. I've been testing it out with a small group of attorneys for several months. The last steps before going live was wiring up all of the SaaS infrastructure. But, we are now live! lawfulgood.us

I've been thinking a lot about the difference between being an engineer and an artist - especially in today's hyper-accelerated technological environment.

In the AI age, where all knowledge work can be performed better and more efficiently by an AI, it occurs to me that, in a way, we all may be pushed towards the role of the artist. The value we create will be tied much more to what we make, than our ability to make it.

As an artist, what is valued is what is being said, and how it is being said. There is far less anxiety about "falling behind" technically, because you are only competing with yourself.

Of course, historically, it has been easier to make a living as an engineer, because your skills are applicable to many other people's needs. So, getting paid for your skills is usually a lot easier than getting paid to be an artist.

As an engineer, we often feel a certain anxiety about falling behind. This is because our value is tied to how well, and at what speed, we are able to implement ideas.

Threatening genocide and war crimes is itself a war crime - especially when the one doing the threatening has the well-known ability to carry them out. The ICC should at this time issue a warrant for the arrest of Donald Trump on these grounds.

Art made by AI is driven by the audience. Art made by humans is driven by the artist. This is why AI art can be both beautiful but also have an empty feeling. Art made by a human is deeply different in ways that are hard for algorithmic distillations to replicate.

It is sort of like art by committee vs art by a unique and strange single entity - a human being. I think this difference may become more clear to us over time.

I'm feeling pretty confident that there will be one technical challenge that AI will never be able to crack, and that is printer networking.

Feeling a bit under the weather today. Figured this might be a good time to take a crack at Touch Designer, which I've been meaning to do for quite a while.

There has never been a more corrupt and criminal president than Donald Trump. Since the record has been broken for the United States, I think he is now going for the World Record.

Trump has ordered the Treasury to send him $10 billion in cash & $10 billion for a slush fund (on top of the $200 million in cash stolen from Venezuela for another slush fund), on top of $10+ billion gotten from foreign governments in exchange for favors, but do go on about not taking a salary ...
