To think that you have to blindly align all of your opinions and beliefs entirely on one side of the political spectrum or the other is to live in a lie. You are allowed to have opinions and beliefs that cross and bridge the political spectrum.

You are allowed to appreciate the achievements of politicians and political parties on both sides while also criticizing bad behavior on both sides. It doesn’t have to be either or, us or them. You can form your own opinions and understand that not everyone will share those opinions.

“They are out there, those ordinary citizens who are waiting for a politics with the maturity to balance idealism and realism, to distinguish between what can and cannot be compromised, to admit the possibility that the other side might sometimes have a point.” ― Barack Obama

The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command. … Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows.

Someone steals 20% of your paycheck by hacking your bank account. You notice, stop the hack, and demand your money back. The hacker tells you they’re willing to stop hacking you if you just let them keep what they stole. Would you trust them? This is what Russia does, but with land instead of money.

You are up to date.
