I like the idea of a crew doing this in a matter of minutes. But I also like the idea that it got tagged once and now every time the owner parks it somebody else adds their own personal touch – like a dialogue on a bathroom wall. Good group effort either way.

Obama's obviously worried about his legacy after saddling us with Biden. Maybe he also wants atonement. Either way, he can read the writing on the wall and that's another welcome sign that centrism's finally dying after decades of grift.

New from me: The US has faced a higher cost than any other country from the global Hormuz oil shock, with the crisis adding $160 billion to its fuel bill — or $471 per person on average — despite being the world’s largest oil producer.

Anti-trans Democrats are spreading poison when we can least afford it, during elections in this ongoing fascist takeover. As a strategy, it’s a recipe for failure. As a moral stand, it’s reprehensible. PS I’m the father of young trans woman and I’ll never forgive anyone who makes her life harder.

For years, lefties have said that centrist Democrats would rather lose to fascists than win with progressives. That claim has been repeatedly proven during this general election. See also their constant post-primary sabotage of Abdul El-Sayed.

I'm not just making a character assessment here: I'm also explaining how societies work. Valuing other people outside your community is a huge factor in how well wider society functions. Bigotry sabotages society, whereas recognizing others' equal rights makes things go a whole lot smoother.

And yes, I think healthcare is a right that makes society run better. You certainly can't deny the latter - numerous studies have shown M4A would save both lives and money. What other metrics for success would you use?

This isn't just about bigotry. They're greedy too. And they all have, at best, a weak allegiance to the civic virtues that hold any free society together. It's all related. They're not big on universal principles, universal tolerance, or universal healthcare. They prefer to be selective instead.

They're motivated by selfish interests instead of principles. Yes, Islamophobia is a big part of this situation, but they all hate Ilhan Omar's and Abdul el Sayed's *ideas* too. That tracks since the "charity begins at home" crowd tends to be bigots. A lot of overlap in the Venn diagram.

That partially explains their terrible political behavior - the fact that they could get away with it. The other is that centrists genuinely like conservatives more than they do progressives. That's because they - like libertarian siblings - see themselves as the cool hip conservatives.

These 3 groups have differences, but their similarities are significant. There's a lot of overlap in their attitudes: They all mock "political correctness" (redubbed "wokeness"). Bill Maher typifies the libertarian / centrist overlap, but they all stereotype others pretty much like conservatives do.

thenation.comDemocrats Have a Bill Maher ProblemEstablishment Democrats obsessing over Hasan Piker’s every move seem to have no issue talking to Maher, despite his decades of open bigotry.

No, copying the GOP was not limited to cozying up to corporations and dismantling The New Deal and the Great Society. Ronald Reagan launched his 1980 campaign near Philadelphia, Mississippi and Bill Clinton did his 1992 one at Stone Mountain, Georgia. Such bigotry signaling is bipartisan.

Both parties have been on terrible trajectories for decades. But so long as the Republican one was worse, the centrists who helmed Democratic one felt they could demand loyalty from the base that they abused.

I've been calling centrists "quislings" for years, but Newsom actually praises overtly racist figures like Charlie Kirk, Steve Bannon, and Michael Savage. He brown-noses brown shirts. But it's completely consistent with centrist reflexes. Ezra Klien, Matt Yglesias, etc. are not much better:

Yes, Trump's obviously the worst president in history. But he's the predictable result of the GOP's use of the Southern Strategy since 1964. It follows that centrist Dems who say the GOP has some good ideas are going to get dragged down with them. Witness both Clintons' use of racist dog whistles.

As I say, "centrists are genteel libertarians." The differences are superficial, and authoritarian drift is among their more significant similarities. Witness the crackdowns on campus protests against the genocide in Gaza by "liberal" university administrators. Centrists also adore cops and wars.

In short, centrists make illiberal liberals. That shouldn't shock since they often brag about it when throwing minorities under the bus and/or echoing conservative rhetoric. Take Governor Gavin who routinely betrays the Democratic Party's base. He is centrist perfidy personified:

This drift has been illustrated by the "libertarian to alt-right pipeline" that others have since written about. Yes, Peter Thiel said that freedom and democracy are incompatible, but libertarians have been saying this for decades already - since they were on the fringes (before the 1990s).

In the 1990s, Bill Clinton and Newt Gingrich mainstreamed libertarian thinking in both parties. A corporate-friendly orgy of deregulation and privatization followed: Reaganomics with a rebel image. And Ezra Klein, Gavin Newsom, and the rest of the "Abundance" bunch are still at it.

Posting this classic 1948 Herblock cartoon because it remains forever relevant. In my 2014 book, I wrote that conservatives have always been hostile to liberty, equality, and democracy. Too many centrists and "libertarians" have similar tendencies. For example, Peter Thiel overtly opposes democracy.

In my book, I explained how liberty, equality, and democracy are interdependent. I say they support each other like the legs of a tripod. By pitting liberty against the other two, libertarians and conservatives weaken all three. Hence libertarianism has what I call a "built-in authoritarian drift."

I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.
