This is absolutely some @valdevia.art business that's escaped containment
When the Singing Stone was first displayed at the Museum, the massive block of vibrant blue azurite and green malachite made high-pitched sounds when the humidity changed with the weather and seasons. These noises were produced as the porous stone absorbed and released moisture from the air.

Since May I presented in two conferences (with @thefsbi.bsky.social last week), sailed on two research cruises, and (somewhere among all this) passed my PhD confirmation. Looking forwards to some holiday this week, but I'm very excited and intellectually stimulated by how well the project is going!
Two things: first, a reminder that people have been capable of impressive realist art for centuries and we should recognise stylisation for what it is Second, do you think it’s easier to draw/sculpt accurate fish because they stay the same shape when dead more than mammals and birds do?
I did some fishing at the British Museum. A short, fishy thread (5 posts) This a vessel with the shape of a berbel, arguably Luciobarbus conocephalus, becauae the piece was produces in the Amu Darya (Oxus River) Some 2500 years old @sibic.bsky.social
Something cool I realised about this video is that the belly is so distended you can see bits of the fish’s internal anatomy. Those finger like bits are the pyloric caeca, part of the gut used to absorb peptides, and I think the triangular bit might be liver?
Black swallower fish — swell dining in the deep! During a recent ROV dive near Trinidad & Tobago, the #DeepWonders science team — led by @divaamon.bsky.social — collected spectacular footage of a black swallower fish (Chiasmodon sp.) at a depth of 1259 meters.
