ODCS (Open Data Contract Standard) is powering data contracts worldwide. It’s adoption is growing extremely fast, but did you know it’s a LF AI & Data Foundation project called Bitol, part of The Linux Foundation ? Help us out, go star 🌟ODCS at github.com/bitol-io/ope....

Our next level at the foundation is driven by a few requirements including the number of stars ⭐️ we have. Next level is at 800 (we already have the other criteria).

As such, it guarantees you that the project is governed by a charter, that no one can run away of it or suddenly change the license. ODCS brings guarantees to your data, The Linux Foundation guarantees ODCS.

ODPS v0.9.0 is now available: the Open Data Product Standard that finally provides data products with a real home, offering them as reusable, governed, discoverable, and aligned with ODCS. Tired of duct-taping wikis and YAMLs together? This is your standard.

It may look familiar to a previous piece I wrote when I was at PayPal, but a few things have changed in the data world in the last 3 years, so, almost to the day, I refreshed this old foundational article to make it more "2025." I hope you will enjoy it. In any case, Happy Bastille Day 🇫🇷!

🚀 New #DataContract / #DataProduct Article Alert! So you want to work with data contracts and data products? No fluff. No BS. Just real tools. 👉 Read it, clap for it, and share it: medium.com/jgpai/so-you... #DataContracts #DataProducts #ODCS #ODPS Bitol.io jgp.ai #DataEngineering #APIs #YAML

medium.comSo You Want to Work With Data Contracts and Data Products?Let’s be honest: data contracts and data products sound like something between legal paperwork. Let's change this perspective in a fun way.

🎯 4 hands-on tutorials (feedback has been overwhelmingly positive) 🧩 Based on open standards (Bitol ODCS + Bitol ODPS) 💥 Designed to get you building, not just reading

… then you’re exactly who I want to hear from. ✅ No fluff. Just a few hours of your time. As @juansequeda.bsky.social would say: no BS. ✅ Hands-on. Feedback-driven. Bitol-powered. ✅ And yes: there will be rewards of unestimated value. (Think mystery box vibes 🔮).

I’m looking for 5 to 10 curious minds to explore, play, and experiment with a brand-new "something", built entirely around Data Products, Data Contracts, and fully aligned with Bitol open standards (yes, ODCS & ODPS fans, this is for you!).

If you’re into: 🧪 Tinkering with innovative data tooling. 🔄 Testing how contracts and products actually work together. 💬 Sharing candid feedback that helps refine a real solution (well, maybe). 🔧 Shaping open, interoperable ecosystems from the ground up.

It encompasses the concept of multiple #datasets per #dataproduct (or more precisely, a #dataquantum). It defines, step by step, the interaction between smart applications, the data product, and the data in a trust-enabled data infrastructure.

This week's data product is related to a country. What do you think this week's domain or use case is for our #dataproduct? Don't forget to check out the "Data Products for all ages" book at amzn.to/4hVisVX.

2. Comparing two versions of a schema is a reasonably easy thing to do (using Data Contract CLI, for example). You can easily monitor any changes in the schema. That’s already bringing a lot of value with minimal effort.

3. Enhancing documentation: taking a data contract and generating automatically consistent and always up to date documentation is fairly easy, you can easily enrich over time.

What are the Goldilocks principles for data contracts to balance value with the ability to enforce and increase adoption? #DataContract

1. Data contracts do not have to be final, as they are always being enhanced, so a basic one can contain the schema and a few header fields. That’s to avoid the “it’s too complicated" excuse.

Data literacy is 💩 Data literacy is a pretty ugly term. I recently heard (sorry for not quoting correctly) someone saying that nobody wants to be illiterate 🔥. I agree with that. What are you guys using to raise awareness/knowledge about data 💜?

This week's card is all about geography. What do you think the domain or use case is for our #dataproduct? And early for my followers on #bluesky ;) Find all the characters in "Data Products for all ages" book at amzn.to/4hVisVX.
