This is a photo of Intel engineers working on the CAD design for the Intel 80286 CPU. I was drawn to the image on the right - since we have high resolution die photos, could we actually find what part of the CPU he was working on? Yes, we can #retrocomputing #vintagecomputing #reverseengineering

I still get mail to my house with my apartment number that I lived in over 20 years ago. I don't even know what database has the incorrect address.

Sadly, I don't remember the last time I saw a star in the night sky. Not because I don't look, but because the light pollution obscures them all.

We all shouldn't forget what Yoda said... "Luke stay away from the darker side and if you start to go astray let the force be your guide. I know Darth Vader has got you really annoyed, but remember if you kill him then you'll be unemployed." - Yoda

I knocked an earbud out of my ear pulling a vine in a rocky area full of overgrowth. Really bad place to lose an earbud. Looked for 10 minutes and couldn't find it. Eventually I decide to switch the audio to Ratatat's Neckbrace and find it in 2 minutes. Ratatat saved the day!

You know it’s fake because the dry wit is conspicuously absent.

If you follow my YouTube channel - do watch out for scam messages like this. I never reach out to viewers like this and I never pitch investments to them.

It started with love bombing, escalated into a full-scale love invasion, followed by a prolonged love occupation. Eventually there was a love ceasefire, and now I’m paying love reparations.

I'm looking at the 5600x3D microcenter bundle for $349, and then I go look at a review 3 years ago....and it shows a similar bundle for $329. I'm so not used to hardware appreciating.

My CRX broke down on me going home from the gym. My brother picked me up, drove me home, I managed to have a spare part and fixed my car and drove it home 2 hours later.

Vibe coding....is frustrating. I'm doing my best to adapt and understand the tradeoffs. It's just mentally feels more like management than software development.

Computer vision with self supervisions reminds me of scoring algorithms in genetic algorithms. In that if there is a flaw in your scoring system, both systems will exploit that flaw.

Ordered and installed new brake pads for my car and forgot I already had a spare set I bought 12 years ago. At the rate I'm go through brake pads and the condition of the car, now there is a good chance I'll never use them.

I have been vibe coding a vision related project. It's such a surreal experience to prototype complex ideas quickly and get results, but when it fails I have to figure out if the code was bad or my idea was bad.

So somehow my coffee is reflecting the sun into my computer screen. And I realized it's showcasing minor disturbances due to vibrations. It picks up when I type and the low rumble of construction workers nearby. It only lasted for a few minutes but it was a fun few minutes.

I am frustrated with all the "Is [blank] worth it?" posts I see online. Either some people are unable to make personal purchasing decisions without worrying about upsetting some online tribal council. OR They are really lonely and want to talk about what they're buying. Either way it's sad.

"We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It's easy to say "It's not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem." Then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider those people my heroes." - Fred Rogers

"Deep down we know that what matters in this life is much more than winning for ourselves. What really matters is helping others win, too, even if it means slowing down and changing our course now and then." - Fred Rogers

I bought a discounted pitcher plant and venus flytrap kit in January. I have had terrible luck with carnivorous plants, but I lost three trees so my kitchen gets more sunlight so I thought I would try again. The pitcher plant bulb on the left, which I thought was a dud, started sprouting leaves.

I have a love and hate relationship with refactoring code. Usually it's the elegant solutions that makes me question why I didn't come up with them sooner.

Started having some blue screens on my primary desktop like every 2 weeks. Fortunately I have a second computer to swap components back and forth and figure it out, but man I hate intermittent crashes and hate this process.
