Brighton are the best team Liverpool have played this season and it’s not even close. So that’s an excellent three points. Brighton had the first big chance of the game but that was their lot on that front. Eight wins in the last 10 in all comps. Up the Reds.

FT 2-0. Stuck to it and snuffed them out. Not the same attacking threat in the second half but a commitment to keep that clean sheet. Not least from big Ron. Massive win again.

Would swap the wings around too. Barcola on the left against Costinha is a match up that I think could really work to our benefit.

Brighton getting their joy in the overload in the half spaces on the edge of our box. On both sides, it's not just Grav. We've relied on some excellent clearances from Virg and Jacquet, and even some last-ditch efforts from Ron and others. Not sure it is sustainable, needs to be stopped at source.

The angle that keeps being shown for Wirtz's goal from behind him, which the commentators have kept telling us is conclusive that is an OG, doesn't look very conclusive at all to me. Anyone get another angle to confirm either way?

HT 2-0. Fascinating half. Risk all over the pitch, but also huge reward. Araujo giving every ounce again, Wirtz with lovely passing throughout and a snap shot to get us started. Barcola and Isak combine again for the second. Brighton still dangerous so we need to stay switched on.

Would be great if someone could clip all the times Arteta stands in front of an opposition player to stop them from taking a quick throw. But who has the time?

The minute Fernandes tried to get himself sent off at Anfield during the 7-0, he should never have worn a United shirt again. Let alone walked out as a captain the week after.

I love this season. Unbeaten by legitimate clubs, tons of problems which are slowly getting fixed, quality all over the pitch and the young and new lads settling in.

Perspectives are funny. I got in at about 8:30, reading on here about how bad Liverpool were. I then saw them score four goals, playing plenty of brilliant football. And both without the full strength team on the pitch at any point. In short, up the Reds.

A brilliant night for Rio Ngumoha... 3 chances created 2 assists 8 dribbles attempted 7 dribbles completed most touches (12) in opposition's box

FT 4-3. Much better second half...mostly. Wirtz made a huge difference. Mac very strong in both sides of his game. The performance of the night belongs to Rio. Amidst all the rough edges, there is something about this team.

I think by playing Grav in that role, it also signifies that Iraola is more willing to give Nyoni the chance to learn than play Grav in the box-to-box. Of all our midfielders, I think he has the least room for manoeuvre.

The Grav10 experiment has been a bit of a disaster. Barely involved in possession and nonexistent without the ball (0/7 in duels). Basically the anti-Wirtz.

Aged 18 years and 52 days, Rio Ngumoha is the youngest ever Liverpool player to assist a goal in European competition, taking the record from Michael Owen (18y 324d v Valencia in Nov 1998). #LFC

Lack of pressure on the ball kills any defence. Tsimi sprinting away from the ball to an extent where he's playing the runners both onside was a clear example of how off it we've been in the press tonight.

HT 2-2. In no way deserving of parity. Glacially slow from us outside of the two goals. Feels like a performance where we've played within ourselves and a side who does that is always going to get punished doing it.

I think we have to try to win the game early then ease off the pace tomorrow. Play it smart. Ali, Gomez, Jacquet, Virgil, Tsimikas, Mac, Grav, Rio, Wirtz, Barcola, Isak. Araujo for Jacquet at 45. Gakpo and Nyoni for Wirtz and Mac at 60. Koumas and Danns for Barcola and Isak at 75.

Don't underestimate the role Virg plays in this goal. Attracts both van den Berg and Kayode and leaves the space for Barcola's header to find Isak. Really well worked and made better by the snap finish from Isak.

Alexander Isak is only the second player in the 21st century to score the winner in 3 consecutive Premier League away games for Liverpool, after Roberto Firmino from Dec 2019 to Jan 2020. #LFC

Can someone let me know when this sham is over on MOTD? You know, when matches of actual worth and meaning are being highlighted.

Monster of a win that in the circumstances. Not sure we have full momentum under Iraola yet but I think we have a foothold. More importantly, I think everyone in the squad has bought in. We can work from here no doubt.
