Meh, careful what you wish for.

Beautiful scenes in Serbia tonight where a student-led protest movement has overthrown the corrupt and autocratic Vučić regime. www.theguardian.com/world/live/2...

True. It solves absolutely nothing and doesn’t even pretend to. Eventually even the most irrationally angry have to calm down and fix things.

Are voters simply tiring of populism? I mean, it's exhausting and doesn't get us anywhere.

Totally agree. Harris is shocking.

Gerry Hassan@gerryhassan.bsky.social

Hard to believe that Tom Harris was a Labour MP for 14 years & even a junior minister. Lacking any real political understanding of the basics of politics such as the meaning of the terms 'left' & 'right' as he grows more reactionary by the day.

Absolutely correct. The permission to be racist is the only USP. Other than that, their “policies” are reheated Thatcherwaffle that nobody likes. Not sure why this would be disputed..

Alasdair Mackenzie@alasdairmackenzie.bsky.social

I mean it’s not a vetting problem, is it? It’s that it’s a racist party, run by racists, with racist policies, for the benefit of racists. The fact that it turns out to be full of racists is not a glitch

Mediocre football played by third rate foreign players. Succinct.

Vambo Marble Eye@vambomarbleeye.bsky.social

Where are the young Scots? Mediocre football played by third rate foreign players. Surely we (that’s all Premier clubs) can do better than this and bring on Scottish qualified player?

Not to mention the potential mass murder charges.

“However, Hegseth faces major obstacles, including his lack of political experience, weak donor connections, Pentagon controversies and support for the unpopular Iran war.” Sounds like quite the winning hand.

America isn’t a serious country

Striving for Zen@ebcollis.bsky.social

One of the most obvious voter suppression tactics is closing polls on college campuses. Closing them on the largest HBCU is obviously racist. Students saying “fuck you I’m voting” and being loud about it is as American as you can get. It is a shame the drumline wasn’t leading the march though.

On the one hand, yes sports-washing hy oppressive autocracies is a very bad thing. On the other, the great club teams were always built on the back of financial muscle.

A truism of musical life. The dominant figure in any band will eventually reveal themselves to be a twat.

Disappointed to read this in the latest issue of Mojo, Will IS the sound of The Bunnymen

Maybe he does and doesn’t care?

Trump behaves as though he doesn’t grasp this. Thinks there is a deal to be cut giving up occupied Ukraine and moving on. Doesn’t understand Putin’s maximalist aims and why the fight is therefore existential for Ukraine.

Quite shocking disregard for the physical and emotional fabric of the city. It would be better if we could say this was down to one person. But the truth is the disregard for the city seems to he generationally endemic.

Why did five prime ministers leave voters in the dark about Russian interference? Theresa May Boris Johnson Liz Truss Rishi Sunak Keir Starmer Shame on all of them.

A “freelance pie advisor” no less. London truly is magnificent.

Things in Popeye, a Japanese menswear magazine: — Interview with a "freelance pie advisor" who claims to have tried every pie in London. He names the city's top three pies. — Recurring column from writer who updates everyone on his cats for some reason. — Feature on Parisian grandfather style.

#FOTW Daily Post 3 74% of Brits say climate change is important. 62% want the UK among the world's most ambitious. We're not a fringe. We're the majority — we just don't feel like the powerful collective we are. Time to feel it. Please share + tag 2. #TogetherUnstoppable #FateOfTheWorld

Everyone seems to be missing the main point here. A senior MP from a party that may well be in govt some time is seriously talking about geneology in terms if citizenship.

Absolutely true.

Glasgow has been one of the losers over the past 25 years of devolution. A product of the priorities of the Scottish Parliament based in Edinburgh & also that Glasgow under devolution has lost some of the status & influence it previously had pre-devolution. www.thenational.scot/news/2659837...

Not all bad then.

Alexander Clarkson@aphclarkson.bsky.social

Beyond the scandal engulfing Manchester City, a lot of people in European football need to consider what might happen to investment from Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar if further military escalation around Yemen and Iran forces Gulf states to reconsider their strategic priorities
