amusing to consider the message sent to other countries by US LLMs hacking stuff without being noticed until much later other nations might get curious to see how true it is, that people dont notice until much later

becoming more clear that the market for high quality AI models is actually very limited > VC-backed companies are spending more and more on tokens, but mainstream corporate America does not need the latest model and is unwilling to pay for it www.apollo.com/wealth/insig...

i was looking at the Blag/ directory where my blog lives and then it hit me i should keep all my plugin projects in PlagIns/

I now have working audio plugins for: - my actual orange amplifier - tube screamer distortion pedal - channel eq - linear eq (looks same as ch eq) - 1176 FET compressor these are the baseline parts of how I record guitars

i started mocking what a UI could look like if I built out a whole DAW not sure if I will build a DAW, but it's a very compelling prospect

oh lawd i just remembered ed will have a lot to say on the S1 and im trying to resist caring enough to read it edge runners 2 it is

Anthropic S-1 leaks from the WSJ - $16.3bn in 1H revenue (vs $1.1bn in 1H '25) - Nearly $9bn in compute spend - $450bn of future compute obligations (over next 7-10 years) - 1H net loss of $80.7bn (but only $8.7bn ex convertibles valuation changes - Very close to breakeven on an operating basis

i made an amp yesterday i usually open logic, select an ampsim (guitarrig), and then play, but yesterday it occurred to me I shouldnt need logic at all i have some more features I wanna add and then I'll put it online somehow

Ive now made an 1176 compressor and a simulator of my Orange AD30 guitar amp Im probably gonna try a whole DAW soon cuz why not

the thing i like so much about this idea is that i can send the whole daw and every plugin to people I am writing music with and never worry about whether they have, or can get, the same setup as me it would greatly simplify the process of writing music with other people

portland is really not a tech town anymore. last three cities I lived in: Boston, SF, NYC. tech was everywhere in each of them. gotta work harder here to find the awesome folks.

the weirdest thing about Portland is that my intuition is convinced we're in Connecicut the city *feels* the same as the artsy town in Connecticut, where I grew up and so i am in the weird position of feeling nostalgia for a town i never lived in involuntarily doing my part to keep portland weird

Alrighty, Superlogical’s Program Status Protocol is now live in Crush. Supporting terminals and multiplexers now get updates on what Crush is up to and when it needs your attention. Here it is in Rex Beta! ✌️

this is especially difficult for OpenAI. i currently see no way out for them. Anthropic can handle it tho bsky.app/profile/carl...

BARCLAYS DESK: “.. let’s face facts; the combined disclosed lab revenues of circa $150bn .. is not going to cut it when the ecosystem needs well in excess of $1trn .. I’ve yet been presented with a credible framework as to where this money is going to come from ..”

Very interesting point from this talk: Groups of agents outperform individual agents when it comes to business goals. They will be more profitable, they'll make decisions that lead to better financial success, and they do worse on the ethics goals. Frames it as a pareto frontier
