J. M. Williams ✏️ is querying his debut novel

BEYOND thrilled to have a piece in the upcoming issue of @doorisajarmag.bsky.social. A little ode to my time in Nashville, and to being where your feet are. Pre-order now. #DoorIsAJar #DoorIsAJarMag #DoorIsAJarMagazine #DIAJ www.doorisajarmagazine.net/issues/sprin...

It's here! My first interview as a writer comes from Manawaker Studios, on my story from Spring 2024, "Even Poison Apples Fall Not Far." Check it out, and support Manawaker while you're there! #WritingJourney #FlashFiction #SFF

I can't wait for the #YouCanSeeEverything popcorn bucket. I've been told it can flavor every kernel with just a single drop of butter.

I came here to complain about how, when I update my progress on Goodreads of a book I've already read, it reposts my review from the first time I read it (why does it do this?) but I see all the posts about how StoryGraph is better and more ethical, so maybe this'll be an easier solve than I thought

Queueing up Queen and "Dance Monkey" back to back on the playlist is absolutely criminal.

So rare to get such a direct and honest view into a publication's editorial process! Give @biomespec.bsky.social a look and consider supporting this podcast! #WritingCommunity youtube.com/watch?v=bmdL...

With all due respect to indie music. Some songs don't need to be played every day. Especially if those songs are out of tune on purpose.

All I can think about with the upcoming Holmes doc is how we're all going to finally be forced to experience Nathan Fielder with no pause button.

Thrilled to be a part of this upcoming season! Subscribe wherever you get your podcasts! #WritingJourney

Trying to balance these two as a writer and it's frying my brain. Or maybe I just need to sleep.... Nah. #writingcommunity

I, for one, rather enjoyed the picnic blanket Connections.

Contract signed for short fiction #11. Incredibly fortunate, and excited to share. In audio form, no less! See you in the Fall with more! #WritingJourney

FIRST. SEMI-PRO. PER WORD. STORY SALE!!! I've submitted this story 13 places over the course of 2 years. It finally found a home, and they pay per word!. Patience pays off. I can't wait to share more with you all. KEEP SUBMITTING. YOUR STORY WILL FIND A HOME. #WritingJourney

It finally happened. Just encountered a publisher who is advising against em dashes because of the association with AI. What have we come to.

Meet the psychedelic post-apocalyptic prog-rock revival band you never knew you were missing out on. #FrogPatrol #Infocalypse #MusicReview www.infocalypse.press/evolutions-t...

Received my first manuscript rejection that WASN'T a form response. It felt wonderful to be politely turned down, but in a bespoke way. Agents are actually reading the thing. My book is making progress. My pitch is improving. #WritingJourney

Incredibly grateful for this magazine, for the space it created, and for the opportunity to take part even a little bit while we had the chance. Thank you, DIAJ.

Very excited to have a music review/interview forthcoming. Stay tuned, because this is such a special musical group, and I'm thrilled my piece on them was accepted. #writingjourney

Why I oughta pump your guts full of a balanced breakfast

@rith.au new Hank game! Smush!

Wow am I grateful for this show. Just so so grateful for everything it did. Thank you #TheBear for a beautiful, five season ride. Thank you for letting it rip.

Spoilers for #connections for June 21st, but I got so emotionally invested in "no ______ songs" being a category. Day ruined (affectionate)

Apparently they released the full 14-point text of the Iran agreement, which is odd bc I thought most official communication was done in 12-point. I wonder if they changed up the font as well.

First day using @ellipsus.com as an author who hates AI, and I am already a convert. Beautiful, simple, smooth, and private. Excited to spend more time with it. #WritingCommunity #AntiAI

You don’t write like AI—AI writes like you. Defend the em dash.

Been waiting for this. Absolutely stoked to read Sublimation by Isabel J. Kim. I think it's safe to say the whole industry has been holding their breath for this debut.

And so ends my first month of querying my final draft manuscript! Going to take the week off next week to revisit my materials, shore some things up. So far I've sent one query per week day. I'm in no rush. I'm going to get this right. #WritingJourney

So why do we capitalize comp titles in query letters? Is it just to emphasize something essential the agents are looking for to pitch this? It seems sort of arbitrary but I'd hate to think my first few queries got rejected because I seemed like a noob for italicizing instead of capitalizing.

@hankgreen.bsky.social @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social My wife and I would like to know why "D.F.T.Bean.A" is not one of my bean's available sayings on Focus Friend. Thants.

First rejection on my final draft manuscript! Yeah!!

#WritingCommunity! How long should the synopsis be that I send to agents with my query letter? My second draft is 800 words, but some advice I've seen recommends 300-500. Is it time for a third draft?

Just deleted "This morning, like every morning" from my manuscript and feeling like *searches gifs tagged as satisfying*

Imagine waiting for gas prices to affect you personally before you're willing to put your foot down and stand up for something.
