WATCH: Aussie Band Vacations Plays On US TV's CBS Mornings

dlvr.itWATCH: Aussie Band Vacations Plays On US TV's CBS MorningsVacations’ international star power continues to rise, with the Australian indie-rock outfit taking over Saturday Mornings on CBS. * ‘Reverse Culture Shock’: Vacations On Their Australian Return And New Album ‘Pursuit Of Anything’ While performing on US television, Vacations played three songs from their latest album, Pursuit of Anything: lead single Holy Grail, as well as Ready or Not and I See Myself in You. Fellow Australian singer-songwriter Alex Lahey joined them on stage, playing the guitar and saxophone and offering backing vocals. Check out the performances below. The band’s latest album was released earlier this month. Pursuit of Anything follows 2022’s Forever in Bloom; it was written by the band and produced by singer and lead songwriter Campbell Burns. Pursuit of Anything captures Vacations at a turning point as the frontman looks back on disorienting, contradictory experiences of growing up in Australia before moving to the US to chase their ambitions. Beatriz Artola (Geese, Caamp) mixed the new album, helping the band craft a richer, more intricate, emotionally resonant collection of songs. Amid their sold-out tours and double-Platinum hits, it's a record that turns inward, focusing on self-discovery and facing tension head-on. Explaining the album title, Burns said, “It’s about happiness as a feedback loop. How you keep chasing the next thing.” Vacations returned to Australia in July for an intimate run of headline shows. Reviewing their show at Brisbane’s The Triffid, The Music’s Claire Dunton wrote: They were, as we expected, worth the wait, with the guys giving us all our favourite hits from their three records.   Holy Grail, their most recent single from their forthcoming album Pursuit of Anything, was played towards the start of the show and easily slipped into the set, with the audience singing it back as if it hadn’t just been released.   The audience did not miss a beat, instantly recognising the start of each track from the instrumentals, and it felt like one of those shows where everyone was a Vacations aficionado. But alas, we still got a taste of something new. Embedded Content Embedded Content Embedded Content

targeted catharsis. Fuzz-laden boogie chugging into overdriven liberation, “Mall,” sprawls with gall and demolishes without apology. Unstoppable pop-rock dropping smitten rippers beside five-alarm revelations,

the album’s outspoken commotion pours molten emotions over smart-aleck word salads for wonderfully crunchy slam-dunks. Caroline plays Madison's Atwood Music Hall March 14th, 2027!

Stewing in doomed romance, stoic motives and primed hindsight, “HAPPENED,” taps vibrant hybrids, melting bittersweet ballads into indie-pop resolve with sturdy first-person verses juggling philosophical melancholy; a brilliant hodgepodge patched from incorrigible metaphors and stubborn presumption.

Engineered in steely weirdness, “sky,” rides silk-wrapped tracks whose heavenly sensuality and trippy rhythmic insistence swirl in languid curls and bendable innuendo. Sizzling conniptions draped around pliant sirens, the L.A. group’s swishy mystery offer beautifully aloof grooves.

A haven for ruminating complacency bathed in solitary longing, “Blood,” hungers and feasts, nibbling in intimate whimsy feeding inconsolable needs. Idyllic misfits lovingly curated, the album’s one-man affair reveal a humble, wonderful reminiscence.

Ever since I discovered Steve Reich’s Music for 18 Musicians as a teen at the 8-track cut-out bin, I’ve been a fan. Hearing Kuniko Kato with her REICH90 musicians play at Rock Nashville before their North American was absolutely heavenly.

serving bratty wisecracks thick with sunshine harmonies. Bubblegum jumbles hiding blithe spite inside sinister riffs, “You,” brews stuttering gumption under grumbling crunches. Beached cliches teased in pep-rally rumbles and snide pile-drivers, the seething glee-club rounds up pounding countdowns.

New EP out today on Ghostly from Kate Bollinger, 60’s influenced pop genius à la Elephant 6, is a miniature masterpiece. A concept album about working in a bookstore? Produced by Jonathan Rado of Foxygen.

“Cyano,” oscillates, incubates, mitigates and propagates. Occasional, soft-spoken vocals, plucked percussion and seafoam overtones form coy wind-up toy buoyancy as the album’s surreal biospheres deploy timid, synthesized minimalism w/ inquisitive indecision simmering beneath preprogrammed precision.
