I create groove-driven pop with a trance-like pull. Accessible, never predictable. A solo artist in full control, my music rewards attention and stays with you. jodywhitesides.com for the curious

Sitting here listening to 100s of songs for a voting thing, I'm amazed at the quality of some obscure artists. I'm also flabbergasted at the sheer # of Dolby Atmos mixes that are outright horrible. It begs the question: Aren't these releases getting checked for audio quality before release?

One thing I’m proud of is not needing AI to create music - nor is there any AI in the music I’ve released. In the immortal words of Jimmy Dugan, if it were easy - everyone would be doing it.

18 and Life. Youth Gone Wild. I Remember You. Three different worlds on one album. Saw 'em in a tiny Boston club while @ Berklee. Same attitude live as on the record. Back then I had one clear plan: if I got a record deal, Michael Wagener was producing it. What's an album that made you dream bigger?

Five years old. A van. An unfamiliar city. Don't Stop playing as we pulled up to the skatepark. I can still sing every song on Rumours. Never learned to play a single one. Some music you protect by leaving it alone. What's an album you've never touched, just listened to?

Baby Now I was in The Cutting Edge. Most people know the song without knowing the band. Went mountain biking w Dan Reed in LA years later. Nearly killed him. Wrote of it. He defended me in comments. The Heat still lives in my funkier tracks. What's an artist whose influence snuck up on you?

The Cars found me before I had a guitar in my hands. Moving in Stereo meant 1 thing. Fast Times changed it. Years later I played it solo acoustic at the film's 25th anniversary, met some of the cast, earned the applause. Some records follow you. What's an album that keeps showing up in your life?

This is a little close to home with some sad news. Back in the late 90s, I, along with several musician friends, were part of a group of songwriters tasked with writing songs 4 Mr. Muldoon. We never know when something will rock us off this rock. Be well. Be kind. We'll miss you Patrick. R.I.P.
