I lust after these so much. I have an M1 iMac and use it as my main machine even though it would make more sense to just use my M1 Pro laptop hooked up to the Studio Display. I just love iMacs too much!

ICYMI we announced a call for submissions for a new short fiction Heaven's Vault anthology. We've got one *other* Heaven's Vault related announcement coming ~this week. ... and it's approaching inkle's fifteenth birthday. Let's cook!

NEW OPPORTUNITY: Short fiction writer? Love the world of Heaven's Vault? ... then come play in the waters. We're looking to commission 20 short stories set in the Nebula for a new anthology. Paid, obvs. Full details and a link to the form on the blog: www.inklestudios.com/2026/10/24/t...

It's kinda disappointing that at some point we gained fluid animated window resizing, refreshing the entire layout every frame… and then we lost it? (Or did I hallucinate that? I guess iOS/iPadOS never had it, and Macs sorta still have it, it's just usually really slow)

Surprised to see that a small Apple-authorised reseller had Duo stock when I went in just now (but only 1TB versions). The 256GB models apparently went out of stock very quickly!

Interesting to see how much criticism iPhone Duo is getting in reviews for the fact that so few apps support it PRE-launch. I wonder what (if anything) Apple will learn from this. They ran the very limited in-person labs, they did (eventually) release iOS 27.1 beta.

But a lot of it just comes down to… your trad bank app may *still* not be updated in 6 months. Devs who really care will have their apps updated on day 1.

Is it a new thing in macOS 27 that wallpapers can stretch between monitors? I feel sure it only ever did mirroring before? Not that this appears to be perfectly continuous…

Yesterday Apple makes a load of Home announcements. This morning my coffee machine with a HoneKit plug automation didn't switch on. Now my Philips hue lights aren't communicating with HomeKit. Coincidence? 😒

My Mac app Substage is currently on a 60% discount! substage.app (It's a little command bar for Finder windows, lets you write little commands that apply to your files. Many of the most useful commands don't need AI - "convert to png", "zip", "path", "path?". Those that do are small and efficient.)

Looks really cute! I want to give it a poke in an Apple Store! But genuinely, not sure I need yet another screen in our house. Our kids are already get super distracted by our smart picture frame in the hallway when we're just trying to get out of the door in the morning.

Apple HomeView is official: - 7" Display, starts at $299 - Wall-mounted and speaker base options - CarPlay apps can carry over - 12MP Center Stage Camera - Multi-User with facial recognition - Siri AI and "cooking" mode - Pre-order today, comes Nov 13

New video editor "Blick" seems fantastic: super lightweight, fast, good price, and surprisingly full featured for such a new app. Has that feel of a UI developed with a low level game editor framework. My main criticism is that it doesn't have many Mac menus in the menubar. Check it out:

blickeditor.comBlick | The first video editor you'll truly loveA fully native NLE built from scratch, for the art of editing. Scrub, cut and keyframe at the speed of thought. Available now for Windows and macOS.

Apple has added a new Device Preview feature to App Store Connect - super helpful to see how your app will be presented on the App Store for various devices.

I was really hoping that the Screen Time feature in iOS 27 would be great for parental controls. So far it seems they have some good new feature but overall it's just as buggy as before 😞 seems flaky as hell

I live in Leicester. It's just over an hour on the train to London. Yay! Except if I want to go to London for an event that starts at 9:30am and return in time to see my kids before bed it's… £209. For a 1 hour 8 min train return ticket. UK train companies are taking the piss.

In the simulator at least I often see a black screen while it refreshes the view onto different screens / poses. I wonder whether that ever/often happens on real hardware. The way they presented it, it looked magical seeing both screens react so quickly and work in tandem.

Today is the ten year anniversary of the completion of the Sorcery! series! What began as a pitch for a "Discworld companion app" to a publisher grew - thanks to Steve Jackson's trust! - into a massive, sprawling, open-world interactive fiction adventure. If you came for the ride - thank you!

One thing that surprises me about SwiftUI is that the animation and transition system wasn't designed from the ground up to support 1:1 gestures: for example an animation that slides a widget from X=50 to X=100 could provide a built-in way to drag is gradually from one side to the other.

It's probably because it's simply not possible to broadly generalise such a system? For example, the iOS app switcher interface is very complex. But it would be cool if it could support like 90% of use cases out of the box.

We optimized draw calls by 99% (lol) in Hidden Folks 2 by writing some tools to find all textures used in a level, generate a level-specific atlas, and replace individual texture references with atlas textures. Thread below 🧵👇🏼 #godotengine

I'd already prepped this in anticipation of the iPhone Duo announcement, guess the work won't go to waste 😃 interested to see how easy it'll be to adopt the new vertical toolbar

Okay yeah iPhone Duo looks amazing - that folding animation 😍 Such a relief that the second camera is a telephoto even if it is just 2x

I don't feel like I use Bluesky and Mastodon anymore, I just use Blastodon. Moosky. Mastosky. Blueskdon. Yeah, good thing they called it Indigo.

There are a million other changes and improvements throughout the app but those are the big ones. Now that we have a more affordable plan for single-network users, we're hoping to spread the word far and wide. We'd really appreciate if you could give this thread a share. Thanks - Ben & Aaron

I used to absolutely love Sketch for vector drawing and UI, but recently I've become frustrated with it as it's piled on features and redesigned the interface. I used to be proud that I was using the native indie Mac app, but starting to wonder whether to consider the enemy… Figma 😕

to really understand the absurdity of metacritic, imagine rating all foods in a similar way. or what about a metacritic for clothes? sports and exercise? language? who do we as game devs tolerate that place.

Adriaan@adriaan.games

metacritic is “ratingslop”. it is an indicator of nothing, a nothing burger of random ratings by random people. it treats games unlike the Art (conceptual) they can be. it disregards personal experiences. it insults our interactive medium. and it holds way too much power. 😞

I love this little drum machine! Anyone know if there's something similar as an app, ideally also with a little bit of synth/melody capability too? I love its overall simplicity and accessibility but it leaves me wanting more! Also the latency is slightly annoying benjaminmullins.tv/808/

Did you know? The 2026 detective game "TR-49" has been described as using a Wikipedia rabbit hole as a gameplay mechanic. But nothing rivals the original experience of going down a wiki walk ➡️ w.wiki/5GU
