Interesting observation: While Max EV of drafted top-150 pick college bats continues to trend upward, so too does chase rate. Teams seem to be more and more willing to sacrifice swing decisions for raw power potential. That said, 2026 was the biggest YoY chase% drop since 2022.

Amateur scouting is evolving. Ways to evaluate players are expanding. For some organizations, complex athletic testing often outweighs the baseball card. Force plates, dynamometers, kinematic sequencing tools and sprint gates are bringing big signing bonuses.
