This is what we pay for.

Palestinian skateboarder in Gaza doing a kickflip over an unexploded US-made (in Garland, Texas) Mk. 84 2000lb aerial bomb, provided to Israel as one of many tens of thousands of aerial bombs in the 1,000 and 2,000lb class included in US military assistance.

Hmmm. Noticing what's actually going on makes you sound like Marx? Maybe just back up there a second and re-think you priors, Jim.

Carl Quintanilla: Real average hourly earnings down 0.7% on the month, that's the sixth straight month... Jim Cramer: Look, rich people are making a lot of money. God, I sound like Marx. I really don't want to sound like Marx. It's just, look at the data.

When all they have to lean on is made-up culture war bullshit, and that just isn't working!

Fascinating tidbit in this interview with former Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan (R-Beaumont), he says that Texas Republicans anti-transgender ads aren't "resonating." "What Republicans are talking about is just not what the swing voter is really interested in." www.texasmonthly.com/news-politic...

Mr. Obviousman here: People who pay into insurance (any insurance, public or private) and never make a claim are exactly the most desirable customers. Kick them off and rates have to go up for everyone else. That's how insurance works. Get more people on insurance? Better for everyone.

RFK Jr announces a new initiative to kick people off their healthcare coverage but insists it's no big deal because "they don't even know they were enrolled in anything. They never make a claim."

Public speaking is a skill. Ask any communications major, any debate club kid. Ask me, I’m retired from many years as a professional speaker. It takes learning, practice, and experience. This is like watching someone given a solo performance at Carnegie Hall who never learned an instrument,

OMG she is brutally bad at this

And she might know how throw a good punch!

A tiny bit of gentle advice for the men: before you try to explain or pontificate anything about the Cornell 7 to a woman, please remember chances are she’s already an expert 🙏🏻

"Rosalia" is a farmworker in Santa Maria, CA. "We live in constant fear of immigration raids as it doesn't matter if we have papers or not. They target us for having brown skin. We are not criminals; we are essential workers who put the food on America's tables." #WeFeedYou

Since the invention of nuclear weapons, no nation possessing them has ever been invaded or destroyed. Why would Iran give up its nuclear program while the U.S. is threatening to annihilate the country?

Here in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, at a literary gathering the other night, I read an excerpt from my novel BREAK ON THROUGH, still out to agents, looking for representation. Reactions: Cheers, strong applause, and cries of “I want to read this book!” “When will it be out?”

The negotiations were designed to fail by the U.S., if what I read elsewhere is true, with the U.S. demanding veto power over Canada’s trade relations with other countries, and exemption from the bilingual branding rules in Canadian law. 1/

Trump has no idea how other people operate, other nations especially. His shock at the bond market implosion and threat to somehow send in the military to bring it to heal is the most recent blatant example of how he has no idea how anything actually works. 4/

True negotiations are discussions between counterparts who wish to establish (or already have) a mutually beneficial relationship with intertwined interests. It’s never a question of who “wins.” It’s always a question of how to structure a deal to best meet the needs of the two sides. 2/

Mr. “Art of the Deal” has never understood this and is apparently constitutionally unable to understand this. Understanding negotiations requires a theory of mind about your counterparty, what is important to them, what line they cannot cross. 3/

He’s going to call in the 101st Airborne on the bond market. That’s a military strategy session I would love to sit in on.

Reporter on Bond Market: The yields have come back up since then. Have you talked to Bessent about another type of intervention.? Trump: The ultimate intervention is our military. And if we have to use that, we will.

Denmark has an Air Force, does it not? A tidy little bombing run would seem to be in order.

🚨BREAKING: Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin threatened top election officials in all 50 states and D.C. with criminal charges if they do not comply with the Trump administration’s demands to feed their voter rolls through a flawed federal database. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

Thoughts on McConnell: 1) 4 wks incommunicado = serious issues 2) Any fall in an old person = serious issues 3) Unconscious momentarily? An unconscious person has no idea. But it was long enough that the 911 call was for an unconscious person. And time matters. 1/2

4) It is possible that the unconsciousness was not caused by the fall, but the fall caused by a stroke/ischemic event/brain embolism of some kind. One can imagine that he has suffered brain damage and is incapable of the duties of his office. (IANAD) I invite more informed medical comments.

Mamdani has invented this wildly original genius plan for political success: 1) Promise specific things that would really help your constituents. 2) Do them as fast as possible. 3) Add more cool stuff. Mainstream Democrats’ genius response: Distance themselves from him as much as possible.

That's the problem with suing everybodyallthetime for suicidal amounts on flimsy arguments: They get discovery. They get to see everything you've been hiding. Or you have to back off. Many other organizations sued by Trump or this DOJ should take notice.

Oh what do we have here

As readers, the more perfect AI becomes at imitating human writing, the more we cannot know if what we are reading came from an actual human heart, the more it alienates us from the entire experience of literature. 2/

Now substitute writing and reading for relationships and lovemaking. Because literature is always a relationship between actual humans. That's not a byproduct, it's the core. It's why we create literature, it's why we read. 1/
