Week Two: Casper the Friendly Ghost
For the spooky season, I'll feature a Hallowtober deep-space object each week. Week two: Casper the Friendly Ghost Nebula. Its nebulosity consists of blue reflection (eyes), dark dust (face/shading), and red HΞ± emission. #astrophotography #astronomy #nature #longexposure #eastcoastkin #photography
Week One: The Wizard
For the "spooky season," I'll feature a Hallowtober deep-space object each week. Week one: the Wizard Nebula, a medieval sorcerer wearing a pointy hat and cloak. Younger astronomers often call it the Harry Potter Nebula. #astrophotography #astronomy #nature #longexposure #eastcoastkin #photography
Week Three: The Boogeyman
For the spooky season, I'll feature a Hallowtober deep-space object each week. Week three: the Boogeyman Nebula; its glowing eyes (reflection) and silhouetted body (dark dust) backlit by glowing red HΞ± emission. #astrophotography #astronomy #nature #longexposure #eastcoastkin #eck #photography
This year, I captured double the Clamshell nebula data and stacked it with last year's using my newer filters to reveal more of the glowing cyan/blue oxygen III emission at its center. High-resolution: app.astrobin.com/i/cfw9xl #astrophotography #astronomy #nature #longexposure #eck #photography

The Dolphin Head Nebula is bubble-shaped and encompasses a WolfβRayet star. These stars are extremely large, hot, and bright. It's in a pre-supernova phase. π€© High-resolution: app.astrobin.com/i/kxi6j7 #astrophotography #astronomy #naturephotography #nature #longexposure #eastcoastkin #photography

I captured the Milky Way from Yanliao Port in Hualien, Taiwan. I wanted to capture it vertically. My 15mm wide-angle lens framed it nicely. High-resolution: app.astrobin.com/i/ypaqdp #astrophotography #astronomy #naturephotography #nature #longexposure #milkyway #eastcoastkin #photography
Evidence suggests that M53 and NGC 5053 are a binary cluster and, uniquely, the only one of its kind in our Milky Way. A tidal bridge-like structure and envelope surround and connect them. High-resolution: app.astrobin.com/i/o9ggbm #astrophotography #astronomy #nature #eastcoastkin #photography
This week, last year, I captured the newly discovered 2025 comet C/2025 A6 Lemmon. It last visited 1,400 years ago and outperformed initial brightness forecasts, surging to 400 times brighter than expected. π€© #astrophotography #astronomy #naturephotography #nature #comet #eastcoastkin #photography
In Greek myth, Orion fell in love with the Seven Sisters. To escape, they prayed to Zeus, who transformed them into doves and flung them into the sky, forming the Pleiades, aka the "Seven Sisters". app.astrobin.com/i/rrqtf9 #astrophotography #astronomy #nature #eastcoastkin #photography
This weekend is the Harvest Festival, also known as the Moon Festival here in Taiwan. Unfortunately, the clouds rolled in, so I'm sharing last year's Harvest Moon.π High-definition: app.astrobin.com/i/zxbppg #astrophotography #astronomy #naturephotography #nature #moon #eastcoastkin #photography
I directed my light bucket at the Orion Nebula, exposed my sensor to more ancient photons, and blended last year's Orion data to reveal much more detail and nebulosity. β¨ High-resolution: app.astrobin.com/i/plz06h #astrophotography #astronomy #naturephotography #nature #eastcoastkin #photography
I captured the Christmas Tree Cluster with 24 hrs of integration time using my Askar FRA500, AM5N mount, and ASI2600MC Duo camera. High-resolution: app.astrobin.com/i/fv8t9n #astrophotography #astronomy #naturephotography #nature #longexposure #christmastree #starcluster #eastcoastkin #photography
The Rotten Fish Nebula, LDN 1251, resembles a decaying fish. Captured on moonless nights in Bortle 1 skies for 17.5 hrs at f/3.9 using my Askar FRA500 telescope. High-resolution: app.astrobin.com/i/zobsjn #astrophotography #astronomy #naturephotography #nature #eastcoastkin #photography
The Sharpless trio of Sh2-115, 116, and 112 in Cignus makes for a beautiful composition. Another remarkable object is We 1-10, the planetary nebula Baby Soap Bubble. High-resolution: app.astrobin.com/i/8i31xu #astrophotography #astronomy #naturephotography #nature #eastcoastkin #photography
