Hello Bluesky! My name is Joel. I'm a software developer and when I find the time, I try to be a game developer. I don't have anything recent to show, but here is my first game I released a year ago!

Experimenting with a new ability that allows the player to roll around like a ball to gain a lot of momentum. Still needs some fine-tuning, but I think it could be fun. #gamedev #godot #platformer #indiedev

First major improvement: curved ziplines. Used to be only straight lines in the original. Don't know why i didn't think of this sooner #gamedev #godot #platformer

I recreated the movement of my Unity game Star Sign in Godot. Already made some small changes and improvements. Made me remember how much fun it was working on that game. I could just swing around for hours. #godot #gamedev

We switched from purely 2D to this semi-3D style. This allows us to rotate the player to the look/move direction without having sprites that just suddenly flip. Also we just thought it looked really cool. #gamedev #godot #screenshotsaturday

More progress: - Railgun weapon that pierces through enemies - bullet trails - enemies give XP when destroyed - XP-Bar and current Level UI at the top #gamedev #godot

Its still very primitive but I made a lot of progress with the enemy behavior, it now can: - patrol - become alert when the player is near or shots at it - chase the player - attack when in range - react to damage at certain HP thresholds - stop chasing and go back to patrolling #gamedev #godot

End-to-end connectivity in my "Fast travel" prototype is now working. You can open a gate in one level, navigate the randomly generated paths, and come out at a different, completely separate level. Next up on the to-do list: 1. Make it fun 2. Build an actual game around it #gamedev #godot

Worked a little on my "fast travel" prototype. The Idea is that you enter these randomly generated dark corridors from one level and find your way to an exit gate to another level Here is what I used for the portal itself: github.com/Donitzo/godo... #gamedev #godot #ScreenshotSaturday

Made an item that guides the player to a selected destination in the randomly generated maze meant for "fast travel" between levels. #gamedev #godotengine

Implemented an idea I had for a while. To "fast travel" between different dimensions, the player has to find a route in these randomly generated corridors, that are sort of "between" the dimensions, by following the symbols on the floor. Also the first time that I'm using #godot for a project

Currently, finding the correct route is really easy. I would like to somehow make it a bit more open to interpretation what route is the correct one, but I'm not quite sure yet how I want to do that.

This is my very professional illustration of what the current map looks like. So the player could for example start at gate A.a.1 and wants to go to C.b.3. Then the route would be A.a.1 -> A.a -> A -> B -> C -> C.b -> C.b.3.

You are up to date.
