New scam alert: Person calls, says they're from PG#, and says I've been overcharged. Asks how I'd like to get my refund, and asks for my bank account number. They didn't have my PG&E account number, so I couldn't take them seriously.

I tried to keep them on by fumbling a (fake) bank account number a few times so they couldn't call anyone else, but it basically ended with me telling them they suck at scamming.

Thinking of watching a #StarTrek TOS episode with a good Chekov part today to honor Walter Koenig. Any recommendations on which one? Have it narrowed down to The Deadly Years, Spectre of the Gun, and Gamesters of Triskelion.

A huge loss for the Star Trek community and a tough way to start the week.

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

I hope the mystery fourth actor is Hamish Patel. Right age, acting chops, and the right "blend-in" looks for a spy these days, while still being handsome enough to be seductive. Plus it'll piss off the right people.

Callum Turner, Jack Lowden, and Josh O’Connor will all apparently be doing their final screen tests to play 007 in the next week.

Hey fellow #MacOS users, anyone else see huge inexplicable jumps in system data since updating to MacOS 27? I've cleared caches and the trash is empty, yet I'm still seeing >550Gb in System Data.

I liked Krakoa, I had fun with the Morrison and Whedon runs, but Gail’s Uncanny is the first time I’ve LOVED the X-men since around Claremont’s issue 210.

I love X-Men readers. They take this shit PERSONAL and I kind of love how much it means to them.

Damn, the Temu app sucks. I just want to buy a cheap [item redacted to avoid ads]. They make you play non-skippable stupid games (“spin a wheel to get a free prize,” etc.) just to get on the app. I don’t have time for this. Off to eBay or Amazon.

Today, in separate concerts, I saw two very different bands that have each been touring the world for nearly 50 years: Kool and the Gang (at SSF’s concert in the park) and Public Image Limited (at the Fillmore). Even money that I may be the first to see them both on the same day.

Guys, I finally did it! I threw away the single glove that’s been sitting in my garage for three years in the forlorn hope that I find its partner. EDIT: Three days later — I found the other glove.

Ah shucks, according to Thor issue 284 (picking up a thread from Jack Kirby’s Eternals run), the Celestials are going to judge us this year. Don’t think we’re gonna make it, folks.

Hey, @nytimes.com: I'm a subscriber with a desktop, laptop, tablet, work computer, and smart phone. Multiple devices are typical today, so stop accusing me of sharing my account and making me go through 2FA each time I read a story. I'm not buying your damn family plan.

I love Star Trek, including new shows (especially SNW), and loved the convenience of streaming any episode, anytime on Paramount+. But, with my annual subscription ending about the time this season of Strange New Worlds does, I am cancelling because of the evisceration of editorial independence.

#MLB trade deadline hot take: intra-division trades should be outlawed, with a 60-game waiting period for trades involving a third team out of the division. Looking at you Giants /Padres and Red Sox/Orioles.

Hamburg! As a former working journalist, I like that this building is just outside our hotel window. Hoping to see some early Beatles history while I’m here — and to have a hamburger.

Speaking of property taxes, I feel compelled to show you this Silicon Valley house that has a market value of $4,313,755, and an annual property tax bill of $2,551 - an effective rate of 0.06%
