Watched the OG Wicker Man for the first time after seeing the Cage one like 5 times (I know๐Ÿ˜ญ) I was surprised that it's effectively a folk-musical-mystery? It pulls you under this strange spell before the final act tonal shift leaves a pit in your stomach. Great stuff.

Visually this is up amongst my favourite-looking Kaiju films. The golden hour images, the framing against miniatures, the suits themselves? All look so terrific. Some amazing storytelling and revelations in this one too, just all the stuff I look for.

Today's birthday watch, a first time viewing of the Heisei Gamera films that I've been meaning to watch for a minute! Now watching: Gamera - Guardian of the Universe

I turn 33 today! ๐ŸŽ‚ My wife surprised me with the fibre art holy grail: an entire slab of DMC 310 black. I use this colour in basically all of my work, so this is incredible.

Finish the Midnight Meat Train & Yattering and Jack. I'm so glad I finally kicked myself to read some Barker, this is electric.

A good, stylish time that wears its Carpenter pastiche with pride. As much as I love a lean 90 minute thriller, I kinda wish it was a little longer? Some more time to chew on some of the really cool ideas would've been sick, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

tonight's watch, really bummed I missed this in theatres!

Another Melbourne/PAX trip in the books for the year! Had an absolute blast seeing people this year and previewing games, the Ff14 and Alien Isolation 2 experiences were my standouts alongside a heap of excellent looking Indies! It went by in a blur. Til next year โœŒ๏ธ

the Lanterns finale was fantastic. Mundy, Lindelof, and King crafted a really fantastic first season exploring what programs us, and this first season wrapped it up perfectly. Can't wait for that next season!

I watched Big for the first time, and yeah that giant keyboard scene is iconic for a reason. The charm is off the charts in that scene it's crazy. The movie needed more Robert Loggia honestly, fantastic performance

RIP Terry Denton! His collaborations with Andy Griffiths were iconic. Especially his work in the "Just" short story collections, those things were foundational for younger me.

I think I need to take more photos of my stuff with my cutting mat for the background, really dig how this looks. The pattern for my Camp Miasma cross stitch piece is live too in case you missed it! Link in bio ๐Ÿฉธ

This is what I've got so far for horror movies I want to watch this spooky season. All first watches, what do y'all think? Would love to see if people have their own lists!

Some more thoughts on Cregger's Resident Evil. One thing I've got to highlight is how beautiful it looks! The nighttime Winter scenes are seriously stunning. boxd.it/gmBPcd

boxd.itA โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…ยฝ review of Resident Evil (2026)Resident Evil is pared down to just the barest of raw, visceral thrills. It's very fun watching this immediately after a Weapons rewatch, especially going from such an expansive narrative scope down t...

This is such a blast. It's so great to see Cregger's growing confidence, especially in directing super kinetic action. It works amazing here when mirroring the experience of playing the games, so fluid and immersive! Kind of a perfect 90-minute thrill ride.

Beyond stoked for this one, new Cregger is always cause for celebration! Now watching:

I think the reason the VFX in Hope didn't bug me as much as I thought they would is because everything around them is so well executed. The blocking, camera movement, performances, stunts, everything else are so pitch perfect that I don't mind.

Added the first couple audiobooks to my miniature bookshelf They were super fun to make, I've already got a bunch of others lined up to print haha

My wife 3D printed me a mini bookshelf, so now I have a shelf-on-a-shelf to make mini versions of the audiobooks and ebooks I read. Will update my progress as I go with this one, should be a fun project!

Hope is an absolute ride! Stunningly shot in these sick superwide angles, with this pulsing sense of momentum that carries it between characters and movements. There's some puzzling stuff in here, and sure some of the effects are bumpy, but it's such a thrill. Very funny too!

Ever since this first screened at Cannes, then that absolutely unreal first trailer, and now the fascinating reactions, I am so so keen to see what this thing is. Now watching!

Seriously terrific stuff. Quite different from the other Scorseses I've seen, but still unmistakably his. Ellen Burstyn is absolutely electrifying here, and a young Alfred Lutter kills it alongside her. The small towns are all so beautifully framed here.

Another first time Scorsese watch! Anyone seen this one? Any enjoyers?
