In July, the mathematical sciences community lost Henry O. Pollak: Bell Labs mathematician, former MAA President, and lifelong champion of mathematics education. In our Math Values, Catherine Paolucci remembers the former MAA President who shaped her career. Read her tribute: https://bit.ly/3U8eQK1

On 10/23, we celebrate Mole Day! What did Avogadro teach his students in math class? Moletiplication. 😄 Avogadro’s number, 6.02214076 × 10²³, is a reminder that math is the common language that helps other disciplines make sense of the world around us!

To close out #HispanicHeritageMonth, we celebrate Luis Santaló, a pioneer of integral geometry. His results gave scientists the tools to measure 3D structure from 2D slices, and he spent decades working to strengthen math education across the Americas.

📌 Reminder for New Competition Managers: Tomorrow, Oct. 15, is your final day to register for the MAA AMC 10 & AMC 12 so vetting can be completed. Returning managers, registration is still open, but don’t wait too long! Register here: https://maa.org/amcreg/

⏰One week left to save on the MAA AMC 10 & AMC 12! Register by Oct 15 to save. New Competition Managers: Oct 15 is also your final deadline to register. Bring the AMC to your students! Register now: https://maa.org/amcreg/ #MAAAMC

Enriqueta González Baz was the first Mexican woman to earn a higher degree in mathematics, and the only mathematician among the five women at the Mexican Mathematical Society's 1943 founding. She later studied under Anna Pell Wheeler at Bryn Mawr. #HispanicHeritageMonth

This #HispanicHeritageMonth, we celebrate Cora Sadosky! The Argentine mathematician wrote 50+ papers in harmonic analysis, taught at Howard, and led AWM. Her advocacy for women and African Americans in math lives on through the Sadosky Prize.

Today is the LAST day of Early Bird registration for the MAA AMC 10 & 12! Register by midnight to save and help students build problem-solving skills and mathematical confidence. New Competition Managers: register by Oct 15. https://maa.org/amcreg/ #MAAAMC

Reminder: Early Bird registration for the MAA AMC 10 & 12 closes tomorrow, Sept 30! Register today, save more, and open the door to a new world of mathematical discovery for your students: https://maa.org/amcreg/ Don't let them miss out! #MAAAMC

This #HispanicHeritageMonth, we’re celebrating Alberto Calderón! The Argentine engineer-turned-mathematician reshaped harmonic analysis and helped inspire a medical imaging technique used today.

Each year, the MAA AMC invites students to tackle problems that spark curiosity, increase confidence, and reveal how creative math can be. Just ask the teachers who bring it into their classrooms year after year. Link in bio to register your school for the MAA AMC today!

Meet our Member Spotlight: Lew Ludwig! His MAA journey began with Project NExT and grew into work strengthening teaching practices and exploring AI's role in math education. Read the full spotlight here: https://bit.ly/4g9tUzb

And that’s a wrap on #MAAthFest 2026! 🎉 Thank you to everyone who joined us in Boston to share ideas, build connections, and celebrate the joy of mathematics. We’ll see you next year in New Orleans, LA!

Yesterday at #MAAthFest, we welcomed Rep. Jake Auchincloss (MA-4) for a conversation on federal policy, STEM, and the future of math and science. Thank you, Congressman Auchincloss, for engaging with our community!

Day three of MAA MathFest 2026 brought more memorable moments, meaningful connections, and plenty of math-filled excitement. We’re heading into the final day energized and ready to make it one to remember! #MAAMathFest

Day two of MAA MathFest 2026 brought panel discussions, the Expo Party, caricature artists, and a lot of connecting with fellow mathematicians. More highlights coming soon. #MAAMathFest

Last night at #MAAthFest in Boston, we officially launched the National Math Talent Fund, our new partnership with Last Mile Education Fund to keep math and quantitative science students on track to graduation. Learn more about the fund here: https://bit.ly/4qaX6cA

Day one of MAA MathFest 2026 is officially in the books! We’re just getting started! Stay tuned for more highlights from #MAAthFest.
