Oh, hey, it's me!

The American Tabletop Awards@theattas.bsky.social

Our next committee profile: @jonathanhliu.bsky.social of Geek Dad! ☝️ Favorite game that won an ATTA: "That's a really tough one, but I'm going with Quacks of Quedlinburg. It's always a delightful disaster because I can't help pressing my luck just a little too far." (1/3)

#Etchtober Day 25: Silent Got the Cart This prompt just made me think of the Laika Wildwood movie with the little brother riding in the wagon (and then getting kidnapped by crows). (From Botober2026 prompt list)

This is amazing.

Three years ago, my dad said that all fish are the same shape. Out of spite, I decided to draw all 478 families of bony fish listed in Nelson 2016. There's still some stuff I need to edit and some fish I want to redraw but, after 985 days, I finished my big dumb fish project last night.

On a recent flight I was trying to find Disclosure Day (it had been on the outgoing flight and I didn’t watch it, so I tried on the return) but I couldn’t remember the name so I just put in “Day” and there were some very funny results mixed in…

#Etchtober Day 22: Foolish Reserve For what does it profit a human (or a duck) if they gain the whole world but lose their own soul? Anyway, billionaires shouldn't exist. (Prompt from #botober2026 list)

I heard it was Christopher Lloyd's 88th birthday, so of course I had to draw this scene: "If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits 88mph, you're gonna see some serious s**t."

#Etchtober Day 18: Flightless Pretty Blubinddem "Flightless" from Inktober list; "Pretty Blubinddem" from Botober list Drawn in the Nashville airport--hopefully *I'm* not flightless today!

I drew W&G from memory and they turned out better than my Shrek did, though Wallace's ears are supposed to be higher on his head. I couldn't remember for sure if they had 3 or 4 fingers on each hand, but I guessed correctly!

What's really frustrating to me about all the pie-in-the-sky promises that AI's vast energy use and water consumption is worth it because it will eventually solve climate change, cure cancer, eliminate poverty, etc. is that there is no evidence it can come up with that sort of solution.

But how about you see if AI can even give us a halfway solution? They think they're building Jarvis and it'll teach them how to build an arc reactor. Meanwhile they can't even figure out how to power data centers right now without harming everyone around them.

It's just that Effective Altruism scam in a slightly different skin: it'll never be the right time to start using your resources to help real people now because you can help even more theoretical people later if you just amass some more resources first.

What's really frustrating to me about all the pie-in-the-sky promises that AI's vast energy use and water consumption is worth it because it will eventually solve climate change, cure cancer, eliminate poverty, etc. is that there is no evidence it can come up with that sort of solution.

Even more, there's no indication that if AI *did* create a solution to any of these huge problems, that those solutions would be implemented. Because it's quite likely that after all this, the answer AI will give is what we've known all along: tax the rich.

The promise is always some all-or-nothing in the undefinable future: unlimited free energy, immortality, clear blue skies--just give us more data centers and we'll get there eventually and this will all be worth it.

It's like Katamari Damacy but instead of a cute ball that picks up everything it's a monstrous ball of flesh.

oh god it's here! it's destroying everything! get inside! lock the door! shut the windows! ROLLA IS UPON US follow & share this - we've got 5 steam keys for BSky to give away to celebrate the launch. stay safe out there x store.steampowered.com/app/3975830/...
