New issue of the Journal of Academic Freedom, focused on academic freedom as a practice of democracy, just dropped.

Hmmm... the URL for Matter and Space, the group led by Leblanc, Siemens, et al., that was trying to "reimagine education for the age of AI" now just redirects to SNHU. //cc @grandeped.bsky.social
I will be thinking about this for a while. Brilliant work by @erichoov.bsky.social .
Mamon Saleh had two suitcases packed for college. He had earned a full scholarship to Penn, and later one to a university in Hong Kong. But visa denials kept him in Latakia, Syria. He's one of the many students who are rich in aspirations and stuck in limbo. https://chroni.cl/4ia9B5S

Well. Here’s Joe Liemandt, CEO of Alpha School, from just a few days ago, hyping @ehanford.bsky.social on Sold a Story 2. (Minute 2:45) “A great podcast if you care about learning science and how Alpha’s system works, and how it’s just so effective” youtu.be/uPMScL_EMns?...

One of the activities students do is a Technoethical Audit of AI based on the work of @charleswlogan.bsky.social et al. I compiled the student's individual audits into one comprehensive audit, and it can be found here: docs.google.com/spreadsheets... (that link will force you to make a copy)
My gut reaction is that I don't like this.
I can confirm ESPN's report. Game 6 of the #WNBA Finals will be 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. An initial source "couldn't confirm or deny." A secondary source confirmed that Game 6 will indeed be at 12:30 p.m. with the Hawks playing at 8 p.m. instead of 7 p.m. #WNBA I @theixsports.bsky.social
One of the very best things about working in higher education is the opportunity to work alongside truly fascinating people.
This is almost certainly true. My wife and I only knew the contours of the Theranos story and hadn't consumed any of Fielder's content. So, our initial reactions to Holmes were... different than most?
Some meta, non-spoiler-y thoughts on You Can See Everything: 1. The movie is a different experience for viewers depending on how much they know about Holmes AND Fielder, and there are good reasons to think this is deliberate.
