70's records/70's hifi/electric guitars/tube amps/doggos. Not necessarily in that order. 🇨🇦 George Carlin warned us, man. ✌️

A loaner in the house. Not my usual by any stretch but I'm liking it! Pretty sure guitarist Wendell Richardson filled in for Paul Kossoff on some of Free's Heartbreaker album. Killer Roger Dean artwork to boot. 🤌 #osibisa #nowplaying #rogerdean #progart #vinylsky #vinylcommunity

How's that for an oldie! Poor old Epiphone Electra had the bottom break away from the rest of the cabinet. Took it apart and did some gluing and clamping and we're back in business. #epiphone #electar #tubeamp #tubeamprepair #fixit #guitar

I played this so often as a kid that years later my Mom heard the opening of WTW on the radio while we were in the car and said "Is this that Walk This Way" Song? I said yes, how did you know? She said "I heard it coming through the floor enough." 🤣

It wasn't the follow up to Fire and Water they'd hoped but I love it almost as much. #free #highway #nowplaying #paulkossoff #paulrodgers #simonkirke #andyfraser #vinylsky #vinylcommunity

Finally got this on vinyl yesterday. The world's greatest garage band! At least I managed to see the Frank Sampedro lineup when they toured Psychedelic Pill. #neilyoung #dannywhitten #ralphmolina #billytalbot #crazyhorse #everybodyknowsthisisnowhere #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylcommunity

I used to own a copy of this but either traded it or lost it along the way. Managed to find another copy at the sale yesterday! A little crackly but that doesn't make me crazy with old blues like it would for Pink Floyd or Alan Parsons, etc.

Record show in town today! I finally found a non-thrashed copy of the 1st Mott. It's a 1974 reissue, but so is every other Mott record I think I've ever seen in Canada. #mottthehoople #ianhunter #mickralphs #overendwatts #verdenallen #buffin #guystevens #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylcommunity

Trying out another power amp on loan from a friend. The Hafler DH-200 is still an oldie but downright modern compared to my stuff. 🤣 More powerful than anything I own and I can now understand why people like that extra ooomph. Bass with authority on my AR 2ax's.

Had to try out the Dynaco ST70 on my AR 2ax speakers in my main listening spot. I'm using my Sansui AU-777A as a pre and had to make Kenny Burrell's Midnight Blue as my first play. Turntable is an AR XA91. It all sounds like I should probably start smoking cigarettes again. 🤣

Still need to do some fine tuning but got this old warhorse up and running. Will be nice to have tunes literally throwing off some warmth in the basement this winter! #dynaco #dynacost70 #st70 #EL34 #hifif #budgethifi #nowplaying

My favourite from the Move! Roy Wood rocks hard on this one. Bev Bevan shines on the drums, too. 🥁 #themove #roywood #bevbevan #jefflynne #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylcommunity

Fixed up this little Kenwood today. Rated at only 13 watts but damn, it's a giant killer! I thought the Sansui AU-101 was the king of the 70's low powered integrateds but I'm not so sure now... #kenwood #kenwood2002 #budgethifi #fixit #jonessound

First listen to this record...a loaner from my friend, Greg...who knows a thing or two about chilling out. 🤣 Not my usual by far but I'm enjoying it. #steveeliovson #colinwalcott #dawndance #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylcommunity

I bought Classics Performances of... back in high school but never owned any studio LP's. A friend gave me this one and Watt and I don't know that I ever listened. Checkin' out Ssssh now! #tenyearsafter #AlvinLee #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylcommunity

Going through some records to see what goes in the trade pile. Haven't listened to this in a while and it may because it's a bit of a bummer in the same way I find Syd Barrett's solo material.

I romanticized the "tortured genius" thing when I was a teen but now that I'm old I just feel bad for them. #chrisbell #bigstar #iamthecosmos #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylcommunity

I don't buy many records from the 21st century but man, do I love Black Mountain. Was happy to find a minty copy of Wilderness Heart today! #blackmountain #wildernessheart #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylcommunity

Snagged this one today! Water damaged sleeve but plays great and for $11? I'll live. 🤣 Has become my favourite Groundhogs album in short order. #groundhogs #hogwash #tsmcphee #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylcommunity

Canadian pressing of 10CC's Deceptive Bends. I know the world is burning and pretty much nothing matters anymore, but this middle-aged white guy has become passionate about the fact Eric Stewart should be on some kind of pedestal. Fantastic guitarist. 🤌

Don't listen to this one often...but I really should. Mick Ronson rules of course, and I love Mike Garson's piano playing. The Liberace-like flourishes are perfect. #davidbowie #aladdinsane #nowplaying #vinylcommunity #vinylsky

Had one of the Tech 21 Geddy Lee pedals in today. No power so seemed like the power supply protection diode might be the problem. It was. SMD construction is pretty much a deal breaker for me but I was able to solder in an old school 1N4148 diode...as God intended. 🤣

Pretty sure the first electronic projects I ever tackled were from this book. Many thanks to Craig Anderton for writing it all those years ago! Thinking I may finally tackle the talk box project so I can play Do You Feel Like We Do until my wife yells at me. 🤣

1971 produced *so* much good music. Shake Some Action is probably the most brilliant power pop tune ever but this is hands down my favourite Groovies LP. #flamingroovies #teenagehead #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylcommunityommunity

Jammed on Do It yesterday. Well, we tried to remember it anyway. 🤣 Had to throw on the album! Love Paul Rudolph's psychedelic wah-ed and tape-echoed guitar. 🇨🇦 #pinkfairies #neverneverland #vinylcommunity #vinylsky #nowplaying

I'm still a musical luddite but working on broadening my horizons. This one is about as accessible as jazz gets and it's a classic for good reason. This is a 2015 reissue, purchased new but it had a bad pressing flaw. My local favourite store let me swap it out and the second one is great. 🤌
