I turned it on this morning. Ran for 20 minutes before my wife left for work and thermostat switched to "away mode" House went from 61° to 65° in that 20 minutes... Then settled down to the 64° away temperature.

I know we all love to be macho about this but here is your permission not to have to: If you’re cold, you can turn on the heat. My heat is on. It’s fine

Might be time to move the bicycle inside to the trainer, that'll help keep ME warm and maybe by extension the rest of the house? (I should be able to produce space heater level heat for about and hour.)

Ok maybe not space heater energy (I got my units confused) but certainly SOME energy... 1500btu of heat energy... That's 16% of what my furnace does... So furnace ran for 20 minutes to raise temperature 4 degrees, I just need to bicycle hard for... 2 hours to do the same.

Of those 22 days you can't bike, 4-8 of them people also try to avoid driving their cars. We get 2" of snow in a day and the office is empty... Anyone who can stay home does.

RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

I woke up from a dream just as I was reading a map in the dream. They say you can't read in dreams, but I think it's more that your subconscious doesn't know how to write... Anyhow I clearly remember Germany being labeled as "Mimimimimimii3#!" (Exact number of "mi" might be off.)

I recall looking at UK and France. And they were something like "Ney Ha" and "No her ♡ n0 har!" respectively (And I think that last one got some editorializing from my brain as it tried to make words out of jiberish) Brains are weird.

Also maybe a little concerning that my subconscious knows how to type ASCII characters? Do you think gen z can dream in emojis?

Anyone else think that post election gasoline prices are going to skyrocket? Once the motivation for even trying to keep them from going up further is gone, and the GOP still runs the government for 2.5 more months, we'll hit $6/gallon for regular unleaded by Jan.

Big Oil profits have skyrocketed since Trump launched his Iran War. Meanwhile, Trump himself owns up to $81 million in oil and gas stocks — which have increased in value by 43% since the end of 2025. When Trump says "we're making a freaking fortune," understand who he is really talking about.

How dare Obama insult the Whitehouse! No one who was a good president would ever do that! time.com/4884923/whit...

Trump is BIG MAD about Obama saying the White House now looks like Saddam opened a Cheesecake Factory: "He's not a smart guy. He's not smart at all ... for you to say it's a Cheesecake Factory, that just shows why you were a lousy president"

It's almost like it's always been about policing "feminity" in women. Like if a woman doesn't look sufficiently fuckable they'll lose their minds, call her a man, and send her off to some weirdo "genital examiner" in a system they want to be ripe with sexual abuse to encourage compliance.

A new survey of 1,000 American adults found that the strongest supporters of transgender sports bans are not the people who admire women most: they are the people who hold the most hostile views about women. www.helenwebberley.com/news/transge...

Strangely these same people oppose bike lanes, when scientists (who they won't listen to) have made clear is the best way to see more women in sundresses riding dutch bikes! But what's the point of seeing more sexy ladies if they won't be impressed by your f-650 with the children crusher package.

That grossed out, but a little smug about it feeling you're all getting from trashing this guy? That's how bidet owners feel towards the rest of you all the time.

Wonder if she can come up with 3 bullet points on why the "dazzle" assistant is special. (I suspect the tech bros (gender neutral) would appreciate their kids more of they could see them as a source of cheap labor, but their social status* prevents them from sending the kids to work the farm)

cool, cool

I'm really happy with how these turned out. It was a paramedic design I downloaded and customized, and then I had to make my own handles, and flare them out to be able to fold flat and fit in the box on the back of the bike... The selective fuzzy skin looks great.

Jon@jonvw4.bsky.social

This weekend project was the ebike. Put a (removable) ammo can on the back as a trunk, printed two boxes to go inside (one for tools+spare tubes, the other for first aid kit), put the dual battery setup on it, and put a decorative MN plate with the dogs name on the side car.

"It was a **parametric** design" guess phone keyboard didn't know that word (though I did download a SVG for the red cross (not paramedics exactly, but probably close in a lot of people's minds) I put on the white one)

Replacing trans people with data centers is a bad plan. Pay trans people to code instead of Claude, it's a proven system with long term results that include success stories like "the Internet."

I've got to paint the ammo box to match the bike, but tools for that are buried in wife's craft room, and I don't dare attempt to extract them. Still need a pump for this bike, and a place to store a big wrench* for removing the rear tire (poor planning, it doesn't fit in my tool box).

When making designs for a 3d printing, it's important to leave some assembly up to the user. It's like cracking an egg when making a cake from a box mix, you need them to feel like they contributed something to the process, even if you didn't need them to.

Harley just went past the house engine screaming, clutch slipping, rear tire smoking, and in pretty sure it was driven by a small child...

I had time... Still waiting.

Grumble grumble, was going to take dog to forgotten star brewery for lunch on the ebike, but FedEx is bringing a package signature required*. So I sit and wait and pour a glass of homemade apple cider (I don't remember when we pressed it, but it fermented in the fridge, unintentional).

She heard there might be a FIFA Peace prize up for grabs, and giving it to someone who is ostensibly loving in the Whitehouse already would save them money on shipping.

Talking with nephew about motorcycle: N:"What do you like best about motorcycles?" Me:"My gas mileage was nice for a bit, then we went electric for the cars." N:"I like the freedom." Me:"Yeah, license, registration, insurance, flock cameras stalking you... 'freedom'. When I want freedom I pedal."

I should intentionally ferment some next year, cause if the mistakes taste this good I can only imagine what the intentional stuff (with some cider held back, with preservatives added, for back sweetening) would be like. *More on the package later today or tomorrow, I hope.

Really hard to believe that Putin has kompromat on Elon and Trump worse than what we already know about both men. At this point they are either voluntary selling the country out, or Putin has assassins in the security detail of each. (Or he has a magic big red button to make both poor).

I kinda get the post work just want to get home psychotic driving (I don't endorse it, but at least just wanting to get home sooner makes some sense.) The people I really envy are the ones who are willing to risk life and limb to get TO WORK a few minutes earlier-

Brandon - "Fietser"@americanfietser.bsky.social

I need to run a bike errand, but this time of evening, motorists are flying around in a post-work, distracted rage, so I'll wait a little longer to go.

Maybe their jobs are amazing... Maybe the have donuts in the break room every morning that are gone by 7am. What ever is driving them to get there a few minutes sooner, I imagine it has to be great, why else would they risk their (and our) lives for it?

Found an unopened container of vanilla ice cream in the bottom of the chest freezer. Paused for moment to wonder if ice cream in a freezer can go bad... expiration date, late November 2026! In under the wire! Also have root beer in the fridge, so root beer float! Things are really coming up Jon.

Watching the kids today come up with the brilliant plan using the exploit for PHP to patch PHP. Congratulations, you've just reinvented the idea behind the Welchia worm, everything old is new again.

If you aren't able to do the math yourself, you are paying someone else to do it for you. (possibly some one who doesn't have your best interests in mind) If you don't realize that's happening to you, it's because you can't do the math to see how much not knowing how to do math is costing you.

This is ragebait so not directly quoting it, but the question misses the point: studying those topics trains you to THINK, which ia something EVERYONE needs to know regardless if you use those specific skills.

It's weird that they think someone having a brother that has homosexual relations impacts electability, But they also put his sister up for election simply because she was his sister. Any how all of my siblings are straight (or at least they are all in hetero marriages) can I be a senator now?

I believe the term is "whipping shities" Or "doing doughnuts" for us transplants Both of which sound like they are slang sexual acts of you are unfamiliar with the expressions.

this is how you summon a traffic circle in minneapolis. just go out and do burnouts in the big intersections until the city agrees with you that yes, that’s far too much space for cars

Apparently they are doing work on the buildings at work this weekend, power will be out Saturday and Sunday... Seems like a long way to go to indicate that no one is home to trick or treaters.

So yeah, I saw some people doing something I believed to be illegal, despite my having the State provide a license that says I know it's not illegal, and then I proceeded to try to murder* them, and now I'M the one in trouble? *Murder is illegal.

Anyhow, we need to make having a driver's license SO MUCH HARD. Continuing education credits to renew your license. More classes of vehicle and license to operate them. More endorsements required to do things out of the ordinary. And more taxes to pay for alternate transportation options.

If you are going to start a war on women, you really should have considered provide healthcare to men. Boomers are dieing, and the men are doing it in larger numbers than the women, and the women that were there when roe happened are pissed about dobbs. . And Gen x is still like 6 people.

Nicholas Grossman@nicholasgrossman.bsky.social

Gen-Z: Whoops. But we’re young, didn’t think it really mattered, had to see it for ourselves. Millennials: Divided, yes, but some got burned by the stove. Gen-X: We’re good. Still into it. This is what we want. Boomers: Older, more conservative, sure, but some of these grannies are real mad.

If this defense plays out as he hopes we are going to see "I feared for my life!" replaced by "Well I thought it was illegal!"
