Wrote and recorded this in 1989. Fingers x'd. Again.

My weekly column is up at PubliCola. "Her group’s ephemeral check, which as of last week accounted for two-thirds of NSN’s money “raised” to date, was on NSN’s book—and now it’s not."
In his latest Greater Seattle column, @joshfeit.bsky.social discusses Mayor Katie Wilson's continuation of encampment sweeps and an ephemeral $30,000 contribution from former councilmember Sara Nelson's dark-money effort to elect North Seattle council candidate Julie Kang.
Whenever I watch a match on the Tennis Channel I’m energized by the bold white script emblazoned on every court announcing the city where it’s being played instead of the corporate name. Rather than “the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Berlin Tennis Open,” the sole bold word “Berlin” is stamped there.
Dreiser isn’t known for being a particularly good writer. But this attention to the iterative urban landscape makes for great reading.
My weekly Greater Seattle column is up @publicola.bsky.social. Bad moods, Home Listings, and Sweeps.
Are you guys still talking about this? What happened is basic: Davis came in and lectured. A+ YIMBY politics, but his know-it-all personality crashed his chances. In August I wrote: "I’ll put this as gently as I can: Davis is not a great listener. The SECB wasn’t thrilled with the mansplaining."
This is probably what happened (this wasn’t clear back in July) - if so it’s even more damning of the Stranger. Davis has a record of achievement working with legislators to pass bills. If the Stranger thought based on an interview that he’d be ineffective it just proves the need for alternatives.
Bar owners will tell you it’s Seattle’s progressive minimum wage law. But I’m not so sure. The $21.30 wage has ensured that the lowest income percentiles in Seattle have grown the fastest of all wage earners. Basic math says this should create a virtuous economic cycle of spending...
Just a half block north of Bimbo’s on 10th—more prime Seattle real estate just across Pine St. from Cal Anderson Park—the outdoor restaurant seating at the popular Lost Lake Cafe & Lounge was empty this past Friday, a seemingly lovely fall evening.
Seattle City Council budget hearing. God I miss the sock puppets. publicola.com/2025/08/27/a...
My weekly Greater Seattle Column is up at PubliCola. "Showing great forbearance, SDOT patiently explained this concept and the change—$1 an hour in the morning to $4 an hour in the evening—to West Seattle residents in the recent report."
Greater Seattle: A Supermajority, a Mistake, and a Chance @joshfeit.bsky.social's latest column: Paid parking in West Seattle, sacrificing local service for speed, and increasing the council's progressive plurality.e/
One thing that's been missing from my poetry website is my poetry. No longer. Just added 25+ of the poems I've had published in different journals over the last few years. #poetry #yimby
I Think, Therefore I Thing Too Much. 3 Years of Weekly Obsessions.
We're about to break some bike and scooter share records. My @publicola.bsky.social column has the news.
The 3 things I'm obsessing about THIS week, including that time in 1985 when my smash jangle band played at CBs.
All Lost In... the onne thing they're obsessed with.
The Seattle Times has chosen to ignore overwhelming written contemporaneous evidence and take a comment from a police chief as gospel in order to blame Mayor Katie Wilson for SPD's failure to put out any information after the Bite of Seattle shooting. Different day, same obsession.
My weekly "Greater Seattle" column is up. I wish Wilson’s proposal did more for the bars and restaurants and coffeeshops that are already permitted, but increasingly struggling.
Last week, I had Councilmbember Foster saying Inclusionary Zoning > No Inclusionary Zoning. This week a new academic study says the opposite.
Greater Seattle: Inclusionary Zoning, Part 2; Amazon as a Percentage of the Budget; Permitted, but Struggling Check out @joshfeit.bsky.social's latest column focusing on the Seattle economy!
This week's obsessions in 6 elegant, run-on sentences.
My weekly "Greater Seattle" column (as in Councilmember Foster > Mayor Wilson) is up @publicola.bsky.social. (Thanks for editing while on vacation @ericacbarnett.bsky.social).
The 3 things I'm obsessing about THIS week.
My poem "Revolutionary Airport" was shortlisted for the LemonLight Prize from @inkandribbon.com. Here's a reel of me reading it. www.instagram.com/reels/DdeiH4...

I updated my column w/ an FYI for the Seattle Times FYI guy: People "living alone" don't live alone. We’re living in multifamily buildings with plenty of other people. It's called density. And it's better for the environment and for lowering rents.
This week's Greater Seattle column is up @publicola.bsky.social
Greater Seattle: Late Press Conferences, On-Time Buses, Selfish Housing In his latest column, @joshfeit.bsky.social takes on the prevailing narratives about the Bite of Seattle shooting, bus lanes on Denny, and what's causing the housinc crisis.
The first performer, Cole Pulice, turned their saxophone into a synthesizer, allowing them to wrap notes around one another in chromatic helixes.
One problem with the grungy vegan bars I gravitate to is that they gleefully welcome dogs.

The 3 Things I'm Obsessing about THIS week. The panoramic intersection at Sutphin-Archer is action-packed with evening anticipation.
Thanks to her good showing against Coco Gauff this week, you might be interested to know I wrote a poem about Zeynep Sönmez earlier this year after she helped a fainting ball kid at the Australian Open. It was published by Half and One this summer. halfandone.com/the-ball-kid...
This week's installment of Greater Seattle. A bummer Katie Wilson analogy, but also progressive Councilmember Foster > Joni Mitchell.
My weekly Greater Seattle column is up @publicola.bsky.social
In his latest Greater Seattle Column, @joshfeit.bsky.social takes on Chamber poll whiplash, the city's plan to go backward on pedestrian space at Pike Place Market, and what the latest (positive!) bike and scooter ridership numbers mean for the city.
Admittedly, the parking lots they’re supporting are mostly metaphorical, but perfectly, in this story, the parking lot was real.
The 3 things I'm obsessing about THIS week.
I love this headline (and story) because unwitting Boomer and Xer NIMBYs routinely (at least in Seattle) quote the Joni Mitchell refrain as a proud anti-development POV.
