“A reservation scheme that becomes a fig leaf for the drilling and fracking of major new gas basins like Bedaloo or Narrabri would be a terrible, terrible outcome,” ACF’s National Climate Policy Adviser Annika Reynolds tells the Senate inquiry into the Domestic Gas Reservation Bill. #auspol

To provide an 'out' clause for investment in speculative new gas basins or pre-fig gas projects risks frustrating the purpose of the reservation scheme and pushing us towards climate bombs like Beetaloo and Narrabri that Australians cannot afford and do not want. #auspol

Did you see this excellent 2-part series by Natassia Chrysanthos and Alex Ellinghausen? Australia promises #Pacific workers wages they could never earn at home. But an investigation across #Fiji and #Vanuatu reveals what some sacrifice for the opportunity. www.theage.com.au/interactive/...

Wildlife populations are already being hit hard by land clearing, climate change, feral animals etc. Now add #H5N1 bird flu to the list. The best way to help wildlife withstand these threats is to stop knocking down their homes. Weak standards are a licence to continue habitat destruction.
