History would have remembered him so differently. We could have had Trump community initiatives, Trump High Speed Rail stations, new Trump Golden Bridges spanning the rivers and gorges of the nation. He would have been too busy with these projects to start a war, impose tariffs or screw allies. 4/4

His name would be in all the major cities of every state in the union. For decades to come the people would think of how he transformed their communities for the better by improving accessibility, energy efficiency, transportation, and proving opportunities for millions.

He could have partnered with governors and mayors to build affordable housing communities, update crumbling school infrastructure. He could have spent everyday being a Developer at a national scale. Every building, park, and bridge would have his name on it. 2/x

Trump could have used this term to piggyback on Biden’s massive infrastructure investments and built even more stuff the nation needs. The Oval Office could have been filled with models of soaring bridges, high speed rail with award-winning stations. 1/x

Spent the day selling honey to a few hundred people. This required running sales through the Square account on my phone. Top non-honey related question: “Oh My God where did you get your phone?! It is so small. I want one like that!” Answer: iPhone 12 mini. The market wants this form factor!

Tonight’s appetizer: Pacchetti di melanzane alla griglia (broiled eggplant packages). This compact bundle of eggplant-wrapped mozzarella with basil, garnished with tomato and pine nuts was a winner! Loving my husband’s home cooking.

Timeline cleanse: a couple of years ago realizing I would never get around to using them, I gave away on our local Buy Nothing group a stack of “half-square triangles” I’d saved to make a quilt. Today the recipient of those HSTs mailed me the photo of the finished baby quilt. Made my day!

Cursive -aka encryption at rest. Going through my father’s genealogy files I find this copy of Charles County (MD) court records from 1726 still completely legible to me. To my 20-something nieces this is impenetrable.

100 years ago I’m leading the construction of Going-to-the-Sun road in Glacier National Park in Montana; being the company cook and getting to name landmarks along that same road; a mason in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania prior to turning Prudential insurance agent; or Dept store owner’s secretary.

Enough “what would you do on the commune questions” If you got sent back 100 years and were given your grandparent’s job, what are you doing?

These days I find myself thinking back to the US Hostages in Iran who weren’t released until minutes after Reagan took office. Even with ongoing negotiations, I suspect the Iranians won’t consider allowing open, free and safe travel through the Straight of Hormuz until there is a new US President.

Spotted this classic in a little free library. It instantly transported me to my tween years when I spent hours poring over these pages seeking clues to the site of the buried bejeweled hare treasure! I was living my best Encyclopedia Brown summer days. I’m looking forward to re-reading this!

This is my favorite photo from the UFC fight on the White House South Lawn on June 14. That face shows so clearly how old, tired, bored, alone, pathetic, surrounded by sycophants, coated with sweat and bronzer that 80-year-old man is. So.Much.Winning. Just 949 days to go!

.. Donny looks good behind a cage though.

Timeline cleanse. Please enjoy this photo of a peony I took a few weeks ago. Beauty is all around us and can be fleeting. Take a moment to enjoy it and offer you respite from the stresses and chaos impacting your life.

Women—relish and revel in your Act III in life! Menopause is a gift that evolution gives us because our experience, skills and wisdom were too important to our collective survival to risk in childbearing. Males don’t have an Act III thus there is no name for this experience. Must-read thread!

WASHINGTON DC Beekeeper report: 15 medium supers harvested this weekend for a total yield of 450 pounds of honey with 17.5% water measurement. Our Linden nectar flow will arrive in about 10 days. This season is off to a strong start!

This story is sad on so many levels and even with this in-depth story we can’t know all the details. But I came away wondering why the farmer didn’t explore more business strategies: making value-add products, have a beef herd with the male calves, sell direct to consumers. Instead, so hidebound.

Brad voted Trump bc he promised to be “the most pro-farmer president you’ve ever had.” Instead, tariffs cut Brad’s export market; the war surged fertilizer prices by 70%. So Brad arranged his family’s final sale. “Farm is going dry,” said the ad. “Every cow must go.” www.nytimes.com/2026/05/03/u...

I will actively campaign against any DC mayoral candidate who wants to move The Sphere to DC or have DC negotiate to buy out the minority ownership of the Washington NFL football team. DC does not need a leader who will be distracted by these types of projects that don’t benefit DC residents.

Martin Austermuhle@maustermuhle.bsky.social

Another slightly long-shot idea: D.C. mayoral contender Vincent Orange says that he's upset that Prince George's County is getting the second Sphere. "The Sphere should be on New York Avenue!" he says, responding to a question about economic development in D.C.

In Helsinki and looking to learn about “The Father of Modern Finland?” Visit the Mannerheim Museum (mannerheim-museo.fi). The hour-long tour provides context and detail to understand Mannerheim’s family history, his ambitions, interests, and drive to form the independent nation of Finland.

mannerheim-museo.fiMannerheim-museoMannerheim-museo on käynyt läpi laajan peruskorjauksen, jossa Mannerheimin koti on kunnostettu historiaa kunnioittaen. Uudistuksen myötä avautuu vaiheittain myös uusi kahvila- ja tapahtumatila, museok...

This may be the best title for an artwork I have ever seen. Thank you nameless curator /translator at The Ateneum, Helsinki for your deep understanding of the artist, this piece, and language.

Visited the Turku Art Museum (Finland) today. Can recommend the coffee cake from the cafe. Also, very tempted to steal this painting “Late Autumn” (1890) by Edvard Westman. The Sandra Kantanen exhibition was well worth a visit too! The scale and delicate color of her “Meadow” series — brilliant!!

I look forward to stocking up on The Fishbourne Hippo WineGums Collection and Chocolate Statue gift box (in Milk and a nice 70% dark option please!) from your gift shop in the future!

Today we will be mainly posting pictures of artefacts that look like sweets. 🍬🍫

I love this painting by Camille Pissarro “Hoarfrost, Peasant Girl Making a Fire” (1888) that I saw in-person at the Denver Art Museum’s exhibition “The Honest Eye: Camille Pissarro’s Impressionism” in December 2025. This scene, especially the contrast of fire and smoke, enthralls me! It draws me in!

I love the intricacy, color, and scale of these artworks. May their art bring joy, wonder, and delight to all who see these pieces up close and see them in person!

Busy day today: - fretted to distraction about the fate of 93M Iranians - saved my 91yo mother from a spammer claiming to be my sister needing bail post-car wreck - had 2 customer meetings and 5 internal meetings - wrote a detailed conference proposal and edited 3 others -hosted dinner party -done

Andor was such a high bar I now won’t watch anything in the Star Wars universe that is not up to that level. Life is too short for mediocre and lazy writing that assumes the fans will watch because they always have. Fans deserve better. Fans should demand better.

Ardwulf the Traveller@ardwulf.bsky.social

Andor earns everything and overplays nothing. The music, cinematography, production design, costumes, writing, dialogue and performances are never less than stellar. It is nearly impossible to make tv, or Star Wars, this good.

I went to a beautiful Celebration of Life today. Through the tears of loss and sorrow in the standing room only space there was laughter and joy. Today was a reminder to live boldly, say yes, make that text/phone call, find and nurture your community, write the letter, be present, laugh, and love ❤️

We need a national sustained #economicboycott to force change in America. Plan now. Review your spending. Connect with your neighbors and mutual aid groups. Be ready to join the boycott when the call comes!

“Washerwoman, Study” (1880) by Camille Pissarro. In this quiet portrait I see a woman of strength and perseverance, giving herself a moment peace to restore herself before she tackles her endless duties. Women of 2026 - take heart, you are strong! We will get through this. Resist! Persist!

Wishing all who celebrate a happy Plough Monday. May the new season bring you and yours hope, growth, and renewal.

The Land Worker, journal of the National Union of Agricultural Workers, used striking images - photos, engravings & cartoons - to help get their message across. On Plough Monday, this short 🧵 shows just a few examples of the plough as a symbol of rural life through the pages of The Land Worker...
