No one in MLS has contributed to his club as Diego Chará has to Portland Timbers. A season a few years back we did not win if Chará wasn't in the XI. I remember him for his 80-yard recoveries to shut down a counterattack, and for intimidating opponents' strategy just by his presence. #rctiid

Well, did we just see a statement win from the Reds? Classic form at both ends, fairly dominant performance. Takes me back to the Klopp days…and the kids performed well. There’s nothing bad about depth of quality. #LIVBHA

Wow. Maybe the best 45 from Reds this season. Excellent energy, defending from back 4 less dramatic than usual, and the counter is always on. This is epitome style play for Liverpool. #LIVBHA

Liverpool at its best pins its ears back in attack, which creates unexpected opportunities on which they capitalize. This match so far is a clear example of type. #LIVBHA

Nice. Aravena has always been a willing header in the box off an excellent skip header from Bassett off a quality line drive corner from Smith. Mark this one down to not giving up. #rctid

Waterman, if you can’t head ball at least track it to attacker. Nothing worse than acting like you’re playing the ball and then suddenly giving up on it. #rctid

Izoita is distributing the ball near and far really well. He’s a catalyst for the front three. And he’s defending the middle and back thirds well. This guy keeps this up and he’s going to be our starting RW MF for a long time. #rctid

Izoita is always looking forward on or receiving the ball in attacking third. Precisely what we’ve needed from an attacking MF for a long time. #rctid

In a 433 Da Costa MUST defend the wide area of the middle third and only hand off his mark to Fory if Fory isn’t preoccupied. That’s like U14 stuff… #rctid

Thought of the day: when Pantemis makes a save, he needs to distribute quickly into transition. What is the point of making a save then waiting for everyone to get upfield for a long 50/50 ball? #rctid

Just soooo frustrating…plenty of opportunities, especially through Velde, but so little support that he ends up 1v3. It takes time for us to get into attacking positions so we end up rotating the ball looking for an insertion that too often ends up being a “cross and pray”. #rctid

64th - Pantemis makes nice pick off COL cross, but instead of quickly moving into transition, he holds ball. Speed is worthless if we don’t use it. #rctid

52nd - Hernandez handles a COL counterattack 1v1 in open space, containing until friends can get back to take ball. We haven’t seen that from a FB in a long time. #rctid

One of our issues is underutilizing Lassiter in transition. Velde is wonderful on ball; he lacks the speed to overpower FBs (although he had LAG FB on his side on a leash most of match). Lassiter isn’t like Velde on ball, but his speed and aggressiveness demands 2 defenders as Velde does. #rctid

Cifuentes needs to dump zonal marking inside 18 and use rest of this season working on how and when to transition back 4 + 6 + 8 to man marking. We get caught staring at the ball and ignoring the opponents. #rctid

This season is now officially over. Time to start using matches to develop players and integrating Cifuentes’ ideas - especially in back and in transition. We shouldn’t waste the rest of the season chasing points. #rctid

We continue to watch the ball while ignoring any sort of run. Ridiculous to give up a header inside 6 with no one marking anyone. Just ridiculous. #rctid

Also enjoying what we’re getting from Ortiz. I got on him hard earlier in the season, but the last month he’s looking the part for an 8. #rctid

61st min - outstanding holdup on ball in transition and release to Velde. This is one of the skills we’ve been lacking in our 9 for years - a reliable release point in transition that can hold the ball and distribute it. #rctid

Our back 4 has no idea what it wants to do with ball before receiving it in transition from back. They are a dangerous turnover waiting to happen. #rctid

Damn…has anyone taught our CBs that they need to come off their zone setup and mark a runner in the 18?!? Reus couldn’t possibly miss that. This is a continuing disaster repeating each matchday. #rctid

If you want to see this country return to progress and sanity, you have but one thing to do: VOTE. Anyone who doesn’t vote in this election should seriously consider whether they value the term “American”.

Gravenberch was MOTM, dominating the midfield vs MNC…right up to the point where he got sent off for a second caution on an unnecessary tackle from behind. Typical LIV these days; we beat ourselves. #ynwa

We saw the quantitative value of Surman tonight - infinity. We look like idiots chasing a ball in back without him…again, excepting Hernandez. #rctid

If I’m one of the back 4 not named Hernandez, I’m so ashamed of myself I pull my shirt over my head as soon as the final whistle blows and don’t remove it until I’m off the pitch. No post-match social mingling. When your attack scores 3 quality goals, you should be packing 3 pts home. #rctid

Blame that goal on Fory for diving in at ball and getting beat. Just freaking contain, Fory. With the exception of Hernandez, our FBs are more beneficial to our opponents than us. #rctid

I’m really liking Hernandez at FB. Positionally aware, doesn’t ball hawk while ignoring far post, and directs Lassiter in 2v2 situations. #rctid
