We combine resonantly enhanced sensing with spectral fingerprinting by letting gas molecules interact directly with a comb-generating microtoroid optical resonator. Our new preprint reports an estimated 178-ppt methane detection limit with low humidity cross-sensitivity. arxiv.org/abs/2610.24338

Honored to receive the Excellence in Applied Research and Engineering Award as part of the University of Arizona Convergence Awards. The Convergence Awards represent one of the university’s highest recognitions for interdisciplinary research and impact. research.arizona.edu/convergence-...

research.arizona.eduConvergence AwardsThrough these awards, we recognize and elevate the people whose contributions strengthen our institutional excellence and advance the university’s role as a driver of discovery and meaningful change.

Together with researchers submitting manuscripts to Optics Letters and reviewers, I look forward to advancing impactful work across these areas of optical science and engineering.

Many thanks to the students and collaborators who contributed to this effort, and to our sponsors, the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and the National Institute on Aging (NIA), for their support.

It was an honor to present to Winnie Ye the Robert E. Hopkins Leadership Award at @optica.org's 2025 Integrated Photonics Research conference (IPR) 2025 in Marseille. Congratulations on this wonderful achievement! #AdvancedPhotonicsCongress

I discuss how optical frequency combs are opening up new frontiers in biosensing, diagnostics, and environmental monitoring and how interdisciplinary collaboration is key to translating this technology into real-world tools. The article highlights our recent incubator meeting and roadmap efforts.

I'm optimistic that integrating state-of-the-art optical sensors and AI will revolutionize our ability to track key health biomarkers and environmental exposures, ultimately driving improvements in long-term health.

Getting ready for #CLEO2025 in Long Beach! I’m co-chairing the Biomedical Applications sub-committee, giving an invited talk in Environmental Sensing, and speaking at a panel on Smart Optics + AI/Quantum metrology. Excited to reconnect & catch the latest in photonics!

You are up to date.
