Takeaways from Chicago Bulls’ 124-120 home-opening loss, including Caleb Wilson’s 30-14 double-double
"on a technicality" you see what we have to deal with here
I pride myself on above-average ref knowledge (I covered OKC, which made me a study) and I’ve been playing a game with @juliapoe.bsky.social where I try to get her to name the refs. I’ve got a good record myself this season. I was 1/3 tonight and lost a bet on a technicality. I owe her $20.
This game was moved to accommodate Game 1 of the World Series, which is being hosted in Milwaukee tonight at 7 p.m. CT (the original tip-off time of the Bucks home opener).
Is this a camp day or something? Why are they playing at 1 PM west coast time? I guess the good news is no one was watching their terrible start

This was my takeaway during the game, too. Caleb did some absurdly silly stuff last night but his floor is still very, very high. He also told me postgame that he felt like he was able to make adjustments in real time, which is an important gauge for how he can grow from game to game.
One minute on Caleb Wilson's debut. Ballhandling and shooting were bad, way too many turnovers (9), but there was some good stuff too when I dove into the film.
Josh Giddey is hurt. He’s also not playing like himself. It’s hard to tell how much those two things are related — mostly because Josh won’t say.

Caleb Wilson is ready to introduce himself — for real, finally — to the NBA.

No Nic Claxton for the season opener — and his return timeline is still a bit vague for the Bulls.
Tiago Splitter's system is coming into clearer view as the regular season nears. Some early details we've been able to glean from training camp and the preseason, from offensive boards to the value of "randomness":
