My lease is up at the end of the year, and in the past week I've gone from casually favoriting properties on Zillow to actually setting up tours. My favorite place so far is winning simply because the living room is on the ground floor; my amazing sectional couch does not traverse stairs well.

I did something today that no engineering team at my company has been able to do since I've been here - I released my product on time without changing scope.

The project I've been working on almost entirely solo for the past two months has its v1 release on Friday, and... I am very, very tired. And if I don't *finally* get my promotion, I will revolt. Likely in the most passive way possible since I got into this position by being a pushover.

I said Github Copilot responds to prompts like it has an anxious attachment style, and the most stoic engineer I've ever worked with finally cracked a smile.

Spending so much time with VoiceOver doing accessibility testing that my eye is starting to twitch. Which ironically makes VoiceOver even more useful.

I love and hate when TV shows use my favorite songs because it's usually only five seconds of them. Related: The New Basement Tapes' version of "When I Get My Hands on You" is a great track even when I only heard four bars of it in a season-four episode of Ted Lasso.

After crying on a call with my manager from stress and exhaustion, she told me to give myself a break later and "not work late into the evening." And I know she meant well, but I definitely heard, "Get some rest because we still require more of you!"

For the first time when booking travel to the corporate headquarters, the painfully hip boutique hotel (my catnip) is cheaper than the Embassy Suites.

Met a very handy older gentleman yesterday who, on their anniversary every year, makes his wife a Queen of Hearts. Every year in a different style or form factor, but every year the Queen of Hearts. It may have been the most romantic thing I'd ever heard.

I love that school has started again in Seattle and I can hear the kids on the playground during recess while I work. I love the sounds of life going on that aren't just street traffic.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro says RFK Jr. offered federal help after two unvaccinated people died from measles, the first U.S. deaths this year. Shapiro declined, saying PA could handle it, and confronted Kennedy, telling him: “There’s real life consequences to spreading misinformation.”

Went to one of those "fill out a survey and meet a group of total strangers for dinner!" events and the same two people I thought were cool also thought *I* was cool. Am I making new friends and overcoming my social awkwardness?? Maybe!

Manager: "I know this is a lot of work. Take care of yourself and don't burn yourself out." Me: *changes into pajamas at 3 in the afternoon*

Key feedback from my manager as we prep for a C suite presentation. I talk fast so my brain gets it all out before it forgets what it wanted to say.

New by me —> Now we're getting AI fake news complaining about how AI fake news is the death of real news! How a fake news site splits its energy between (a) the imagined closure of real US newspapers and (b) Chinese-friendly takes on Taiwan www.niemanlab.org/2026/07/now-...

niemanlab.orgNow we’re getting AI fake news complaining about how AI fake news is the death of real newsDid 47 Alabama newspapers die on a single day and no one noticed? (Hint: No, they didn't.)

Thanks to free use of the Figma Agent while it's in beta, I'm back to experimenting more in Figma instead of directly in Claude Code. The little chime the agent makes when it finishes a task is very Pavlovian.
