What I should to do is make a script that'll put a few of these in the borders of whatever paste stencil you were ordering anyway. I guess I should test with reasonable thicknesses for paste

I made a board to properly test this out but it's not here yet. I imagine the tracking will be smoother when the magnetometers aren't so jankily placed.

Check it out, I accidentally replaced an 8 bit 1010 RGB with a 16 bit one and turns out it still works. I'm guessing the weird color is because it's taking RRGGBB from 2 LEDs' RGBRGB data. I would've expected there'd be issues with a start frame in the middle but apparently not.

Me telling people how to use KiCad: "Just make your own footprints it takes like 2 seconds" Me actually using KiCad: 3 days and 8 printed mockups in for a single cursed 2x35 pin header / card edge footprint.

Of all the questions I completely blanked on, the only one I actually regret is my favorite fictional robot. I could've had an existential crisis choosing between Daneel, Bender, and the sentient coin-op door lock from the beginning of Ubik.

Kevin Santo Cappuccio, founder of Architeuthis Flux, joins us to discuss creating Jumperless, an open-source breadboard that replaces physical jumper wires with software-controlled analog crossbar switches. Listen here: embedded.fm/episodes/532 #electronics #micropython #opensource #oshw

Turns out your house has been giving you free music this whole time through the wall outlets. The DJ just plays this 60Hz trance album but I’ve been calling the power company to request different songs.

I missed my monthly "don't buy a resin printer" meeting with @jumperless.org because I was hand-soldering a 3×2mm WS2811 IC to a flex PCB. If you want a Neopixel with colors other than RGB, turns out you can just make your own by having a long enough manic episode.

@settinger.net missed his monthly appointment to tell me not to buy a resin printer so I did. These things friggin' rule (for the kinds of things I tend to make) But I also see why the washing and curing stuff is such a big deal, my tupperware full of vodka and 3 UV flashlights aren't gonna cut it.

If you're wondering what I'm cooking here, it's a new thing I'm super hyped on. It's like a regular breadboard BUT: 6 holes so you can put double row headers in the middle aligned power rails a 70 pin card edge connector on top mapped to the rows (for adding a Jumperless-as-a-module or whatever)

And the coolest part: the top surface is a replaceable protoboard PCB. So you can breadboard something, then if you want to keep it, solder everything in place and pull it off as a permanent PCB and just put on a fresh "Wig."

I think Sam underestimated my willingness to turn my house into a Superfund site if it means I can sanity check models as I design them. This was a 12 minute print (plus half an hour of living in goo land.)

I bought this stop motion armature as a source of ball and socket joints and made a huge mistake by putting it together. It is now a friend so I need to get another one to harvest for linkages.

This is just copper pads hooked up directly to gpio, and PIO state machines reading tiny changes in capacitance... without any "real" analog circuitry. (Credit to Matthias Wendel, I stole his pico-femtofarad code and made it into a 3D gesture sensing thing.) github.com/Matthias-Wan...

The ALASKAN BULL WORM! PSRAM Mod kits are in. I was worried about the fit around that flash chip but the vibes-based clearance was so on point you could probably get away with just friction fitting them.

I love how fabs have such low self-esteem. They'll be like, "hey those silkscreen features are too tiny, our terrible process will turn them into mush" and you say "that's fine, just try your best" and then they fucking nail it every time.
