For those of you that left Conservative Christianity, Evangelicalism, or the faith altogether…how glad are you to be out? Cause the last few days have confirmed I made the best decision of my life walking away from that anti-Christ shit show. No regrets, how about you?

As the National Guard gears up to descend on my city I can’t help but remember all the people who said I was an alarmist and told me it would never happen here. Kent State is going to be a fond memory after all this but hey I guess they got to “own the libs” for a short time.

The only piece of life advice I have in 2025 is if you feel like you’re doomscrolling endlessly you probably are, and the minute you feel that way you should take some kind of action—and this can even just be donating 5 bucks somewhere—and then putting your phone anyway.

I think about this at least once a week. Once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them. - Dune

I do firmly believe that refusing to outsource your basic cognitive functions to LLMs right now - as so many are stumbling over themselves to do right now, like hogs trotting to a pile of slop that’s been set up inside of a butcher’s delivery truck - will very much pay off in a few years.

What if we stopped platforming fascists and just started loudly yelling at them to shut up and/or ignored them completely. I don’t want to hear some Connor’s “ideas” like it’s the 1930’s and we don’t already know where this is going. Debating them legitimizes them and we have got to stop.

I handing over the keys to my apartment today. It was the first place I landed after my divorce and it’s in my home for two years. I walked through every room and said thank you. I’m happy to be moving on, but I’m so grateful for that place that sheltered me through that time.

In the spring of 2008, I feared America was on the verge of war with Iran — and, believing that it’s good style to get to know people before you bomb them, I made “Rick Steves’ Iran,” a one-hour special that could (and would) only debut on PBS. Sadly, this special has become pertinent again today.

I don’t know if this is a me thing or an ADHD thing but I’m going to be vulnerable for a second. One of the hardest things about moving is the waves of shame that come over you for all the things you didn’t do or jobs you left unfinished. It’s a veritable ocean over here and I’m drowning.

Way too many people are like, “I’m not the kind of person that falls for propaganda therefore I can’t be falling for propaganda.” Learning how to question your assumptions about yourself is an invaluable skill. I need to do it more, you need to do it more, and we all need to do it for each other.

Avoid and block chronically online leftists that say a protest doesn’t do anything. They’re the same ones that said voting doesn’t do anything and look where we’re at. If your politics doesn’t have hands and feet and doesn’t get messy from time to time, I have no use for it.

This was the plan the entire time and it was always going to be targeted towards Democratic run cities. It’s not about law and order. It’s about controlling by force the areas where Trump does not control by ideology.

Sources said that even at the start of his second term, Trump was discussing with multiple advisers where & when it would make sense to send in federal troops, either for supposed crime control or in response to larger-scale public activism against his agenda. 🔗 www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.

It would be awful if someone told Elon Musk that the only way to get back in the public’s good graces* would be to release all the dirt. *also don’t tell him there is no way to get back in the public’s good graces.

This was such a fun conversation!
