In the song "Small Talk"--one of my all-time favorite singer-singwriter ditties--Julia Jacklin says that Zach Braff is "too young to be a father to me" and Catherine Deneuve is "too old to be a mother to me." They are 15 and 47 years older than Jacklin. Technically possible, if not advisable.

Phoebe Bridgers called out all the dads in attendance at her concert, which was nice, but the real dad gift was that she played a cover of Nirvana’s Lithium, a song that was released three years before she was born.

Oh, you know, just normal Saturday morning stuff like writing to my kid’s doctors to ask if they can provide documentation to allow our kid to continue the current rec league girls’ under-18 soccer season in case a state initiative passes.

I’m at a community event, and a project partner asked about two of my colleagues of color. I explained that they’re not here because the NOMA conference is happening in Miami right now: “You basically only get white architects in Seattle this week, friend.” #nationalOrganizatioOfMinorityArchitects

I’m glad more retailers now carry larger sizes of clothing, but if all of your models are size 4 or smaller, it’s hard to understand how your clothes might sit on a curvier frame.

We’ve bid on others since, but last time we won a giant Beecher’s at a charity auction, twitter was a thing, and #cheeseTwitter was a community, and we hosted a cheese party at our house in February 2019, possibly invoking a global pandemic.

There’s a special circle of hell reserved for people who man-spread at the convention center luncheon 10-top. Bro, there is only room for all of our knees to be directly in front of us here. Close it up and enjoy your salad.

I am with Smalls at the Le SSERAFIM concert. We have these light sticks that the artists will control during the show, but I’m playing around with mine before the show starts. She just saw me and said, “there goes my mom…doin’ stuff.”

“This time capsule of species interactions, I think, is just so cool,” said Scott V. Edwards, an evolutionary biologist at Harvard who was not involved in the new study. “You’ve got this three-species interaction in this one tiny piece of poop.” www.nytimes.com/2026/09/17/s...

Unlike Macklemore, these support acts don’t have big followings and they are giving up their chance to perform to stadiums to push back against censorship, not of themselves but of a fellow artist. Respect.

The Irish musicians, Beoga, who play alongside Ed Sheeran, have withdrawn from Sheeran’s tour. This is the statement they published on Instagram:

Our car got stolen overnight, and when the police officer arrived at our house to take the report, he stepped inside, looked at the wall shelving unit that occupies the focal wall of our living room and said, “I see you’ve got the J Dilla there.” This is the J Dilla displayed in my living room:

My favorite actor of late is Thaddea Graham, based on her hilarious performances as 1) Detective Houlihan in the Irish dark comedy Bad Sisters and 2) as Susie in Margo’s Got Money Troubles. These are both clever character roles, but she fills them out brilliantly.

Has anyone who parents teens devised a per mile (or other) charging scheme to help the teen understand, internalize, or cover the costs of making discretionary trips by car?

Do they think the “adult” section = pornography? Have these people ever visited a library?

Jesus Christ: after a recent ruling by the Eighth Circuit that allowed Act 372 to take effect, an Arkansas county has banned all children from checking out any books in the adult section, bringing home any DVDs, or using the self-checkout kiosk in its public libraries.
