Learned some CyberPunk TCG yesterday. Very interesting game. I like the randomness of the gig rolling and dice manipulation layered into it. I know literally nothing the video game or the characters but enjoyed walking through a tutorial game with an LGS local. *also yes I stole all the dice lol

I have learned more about Magic working the Standard, Pioneer, Modern, Legacy and FNM drafts nights at my LGS AND playing cEDH than my causal EDH games this year. For me, Casual EDH is the playground. Comp MtG formats are the gym.

Riftbound is eating magic's lunch right now when it comes to support for the competitive scene. Maybe wizards can put some of that 46% OPERATING MARGIN they flaunted at the Q3 earnings call to use in making high-level competitive play more attractive to more players.

I really like Beam Me Up as a mechanic #mtgxstartrek One of my favorite design spaces is additional costs creating creative benefit rather than restriction.

Kid at the LGS keeps saying ‘theoretically’ when describing his deck and what it can do and I’m waiting for his opponents to hit him with the ‘theoretically we could play magic’

Oh hey look at that 👀 I’ll be playing some cEDH tonight on @thatsnotcedh.com’s stream. *thwip thwip*

That’s NOT cEDH@thatsnotcedh.com

[A JACK, A GLADE AND A K0PPK0PP WALK INTO A BAR] Tonight guests @music00soba.bsky.social amd @k0ppk0pp.bsky.social join Mischa to convince Chris to end his Blue Farm villain arc. Can they save him?? Fine out tonight!

Alright so it’s coming together and folks seemed interested so let’s make it game. The creature base is only 2 creatures. And both of them combined only represent half of Jace’s color identity. Can you guess what they are? 👀

I am doing something very dumb with Jace, Multiverse Architect and I can’t wait to test it. This is Project: Spells I Can Never Cast From My Binder Because They Are Too F*****g Big

Just did my first paid cameo as Spider-Man which was pretty cool. So uh… that’s a thing now. If anyone is looking to book a Spider-Man cameo hit me up since you know… I live here ❤️💙

I think we’re sleeping on this card. 5 mana commander in Gruul or Gruul adjacent? Cast from exile? Flashback? Foretell? Escape? It just gives you the one, two, and three turn layup in a nice package.

I’ve begun my October horror movie watch where I catch up on all the movies I’ve missed. So far I’ve watched: Final Destination: Bloodlines 3/5 (scary but campy, nice blend of both) FNAF2 1/5 (doesn’t know what it wants to be) Obsession 5/5 Weapons 5/5 Anyone got suggestions?

Hi hello, former assistant to a Broadway producer and theatrical producer here! So I‘m also just now hearing about this which is kinda wild since MagicCon: Atlanta is right around the corner. And I‘ve seen some back and forth about pricing (which I get) so I thought I‘d chime in. (1/11)

If this is related to Reality Fracture at all, I‘m also interested to hear about it‘s tie in. Because on paper, it doesn‘t seem that related outside the same color scheme / branding. If it were me (and hey, Wizards, I‘m available) there‘s definitely a few ideas I could come up with. (10/11)

TLDR: things like this are expensive to produce. Unfortunately that makes them not accessible to the general public. But is THIS the best tie in experience for the set and what was the original intention? Who knows. This is where my brain goes when I see / read about experiences / theatre. (11/11)

Food and safety guidelines, DOH inspections to make sure it‘s letter grade approved, do you need to install new equipment? The list goes on and on. Why am i rambling about all of this? Because it‘s so hard to do something like this w/o it being exorbitant and that‘s unfortunate… (8/11)

If you end up going, I‘d love to hear your thoughts / feedback on the experience. Because I think there‘s really cool and cost efficient ways to create experiences for MagicCon goers. And perhaps this could have been something bundled under the Black Lotus badge to help with cost… (9/11)

Rental cost of the space, actor pay, prop costume and set maintenance, utility costs, rights, etc etc. It just wasn‘t sustainable without the ticket price becoming so high that only the ‚elite‘ could afford the experience, which was not their intention when creating the piece. (6/11)

„Sleep No More“ didn‘t even have food. So now you add rental cost of silverware, dining ware, tablecloths, food, food prep, food storage, sourcing, kitchen staff, are you booking a restaurant then cost of restaurant rental. Are you cooking in house? OH BOY… (7/11)

My concept was simple on paper but extremely complicated and expensive in execution. The script has a menu in it. And no production had ever been done cooking food live. So why not turn the play into a repeatable immersive dinner experience in NYC. But immersive theater is costly… (4/11)

… which is why it‘s been dying post pandemic as theatrical producers / event producers seek guaranteed return on investment. We‘re beyond the days of experimentation for the sake of experimenting. The risk analysis is too high. Look at companies like Punch Drunk who produced „Sleep No More“ (5/11)

2020 : Hedwig on Broadway had just finished it‘s run which I worked on, the musical I was developing finished a choreo lab and was being shopped to regional theatre‘s, and I was developing a production like this at my fellowship in NYC. An immersive production of Arnold Wesker‘s „The Kitchen“ (2/11)

If you haven‘t read or seen the play (there‘s a movie of it), it‘s a beautiful 2 act‘er with 30 characters that takes place over a lunch and dinner shift in the kitchen of a restaurant. The play‘s main themes are immigration, identify, work ethic, and shared human experiences across cultures. (3/11)

Speaking of the baby blue, let’s talk marketing because I actually LOVE the color choice of all the Reality Fracture boxing / packaging. I’m not sure what its actual Pantone code is (help a brother out) but why choose baby blue? High level, it’s a combination of old Jace & the Theorist. (1/8)

A birth if you will. Both of a new reality, a new multiverse, but also a new version of himself and ‘a child’ in Tam. So to blanket the packaging in baby blue subconsciously tells our brain, this is new. This is something ‘born’. How we feel about that is up to the viewer / the player. (7/8)

Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. I love marketing and sometimes we overlook the small things. Hope everyone has had fun at their prereleases this weekend! (8/8

Lastly, baby blue is primarily usually used in two ways: to reference newborns, or when describing eye color. Jace’s eyes are always a highlighted feature in his artwork and even his wiki: (5/8)

“He has clearwater blue eyes with a small brown freckle in one” “When creating spells, Jace's eyes shine bright blue with magic.” So it makes sense that the marketing team would choose a color that is commonly referred to in eye color. But to go a step deeper, Jace has created something new.(6/8)

And we know the Theorist’s primary color is actually white (aligned with his strict, rigid view of how the world should be/work). Blue + white = baby blue. But color choice rarely is that surface level. To me, the deeper marketing choice lies in: 1. Culture reference 2. Representation (3/8)

Jace, Vyrn’s Prodigy (the flip Origins Jace) we lovingly call ‘Baby Jace’. And since this set deals with his history and trauma, I can’t help but think that baby blue is a nod to the players and reference. And from a storytelling angle, baby Jace had a real moment that that hit my heart (4/8)

Older versions of Jace had a much deeper, richer tone of blue closer to how we identify the mana color in Magic. Mostly because at the founding of the Gatewatch, each walker represented their individual color of mana. Most of the Gatewatch walkers haven’t strayed from their color sans a few. (2/8)
