It’s been 76 days since Trump launched his illegal war in Iran, and the Administration is STILL refusing to share with Congress or the public an official legal rationale for the conflict—all while pushing for $1.5 trillion for the Pentagon. Everything about that is ridiculous.

Now is the time to announce the path to free elections. I endorse Senator Bernie Moreno’s call for a Presidential election by July 24, 2027, the birthday of Liberator Simón Bolívar. Liberate Venezuela from dictatorship. Liberate Venezuela from foreign domination. Venezuela for Venezuelans!

Northern Virginia’s water supply depends on the work happening every day at the Upper Occoquan Service Authority. Thank you to the UOSA team in Centreville for the tour, where the $1M+ in federal funding I secured will modernize its septic waste facility.

In Leesburg, I toured the new Loudoun Crisis Receiving and Stabilization Center, built with $4.1M in federal funding I helped secure to put critical care in reach for those in crisis. I appreciate Loudoun Chair Phyllis Randall partnership in making behavioral health resources a priority.

Survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault deserve safety and support. In Dumfries, I toured ACTSPWC to see how the $1.78 million in federal funding I secured will help provide temporary housing and other critical services to help promote healing.

Trump’s vanity projects — a gold ballroom, a $100M “Triumphal Arch,” gold-plated horse statues, a $50M golf course — are set to cost taxpayers $1.8+ billion. Here’s what that money could have been spent on:

Great to be at VCU to see Virginia’s only undergraduate robotics and autonomous systems engineering program. I’m proud to have secured $1 million in federal funding to support this research—giving students hands-on experience and a path to in-demand careers in a fast-growing field.

Virginia is for (research) lovers! 300+ Virginians at Haleon in Richmond are working on critical research for over-the-counter products, from Tums to Emergen-C. I’ll keep doing all I can on the Senate’s health committee to promote research and domestic drug manufacturing.

A strong workforce and economy depend on expanding opportunity and removing the barriers to inclusion. National Disability Employment Awareness Month reminds us of the need to better support Americans with disabilities in finding good jobs.

My bipartisan Retire through Ownership Act is now law! It’ll facilitate employee stock ownership plans, so workers can share directly in the profits they help create. That means higher wages, more wealth-building, and a real stake in their workplace. www.kaine.senate.gov/press-releas...

kaine.senate.govKaine's Bipartisan Bill To Help Workers Share In Company Profits Becomes Law | U.S. Senator Tim Kaine of VirginiaWASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tim Kaine’s (D-VA) bipartisan Retire through Ownership Act has become law. The bipartisan legislation, which he...

Americans have been forced to pay over $129 billion more for gas and diesel because of Trump’s foolish war in Iran—and it’s been reported that he’s thinking about ordering more strikes! This isn't what the American people want. We must work to lower costs, not continue this war.

Are we really surprised? Donald Trump’s failed economic agenda, his foolish and illegal war, and his ridiculous tariffs are driving up costs and hurting American families. Virginians can’t afford more of this, and I’ll keep fighting to bring costs down. www.cnbc.com/2026/10/14/c...

For decades, Head Start has given millions of kids the education and health care they need to thrive. This National Head Start Awareness Month, let’s continue to push back against the Trump-Vance Administration’s attacks on the program and invest in our children.

Happy 251st birthday to the U.S. Navy! Virginia is proud to have the largest naval base in the world and be home to so many Sailors and their families. As Ranking Member of the Senate Seapower Subcommittee, I will keep working to support our servicemembers and military families.

This Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we celebrate the history and contributions of indigenous communities. It’s been an honor to get to work with Virginia’s tribes, including on federal recognition of six of them. I’ll keep working to support Virginia’s tribes.

The Virginia Department of Education posted annual school performance data this week. Very proud of great progress for many of my hometown Richmond schools. A special shoutout to Holston High in Washington County for its amazing performance.

1 in 8 women are diagnosed with breast cancer during their life. This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we recommit to doing more to support survivors and expand access to screenings and treatment. I encourage you to get screened!

During National Substance Abuse Prevention Month, we raise awareness about substance use disorder and stand with those in treatment and recovery. We’ve done a lot to expand access to substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery programs, but we can do more.

Coal miners make great sacrifices to keep our nation running. I was glad to host a forum with the National Black Lung Association to discuss how we can better support miners suffering from black lung disease and ensure they have protections in place to protect their safety.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. We all have a role to play in addressing domestic violence. If you or someone you know needs help, please call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233.

80% of Americans say finding and affording child care is a major problem. This hurts families and our economy. Instead of building ballrooms and starting new wars, we should pass my Child Care for Working Families Act to cap costs and raise wages for providers.

Veterans deserve to know that help is there when they need it. I’m proud to have worked with @markwarner.bsky.social to secure over $4.1 million to expand suicide prevention efforts and connect Virginia veterans and their families with the support and resources they need.

On World Teachers’ Day, we celebrate the educators who inspire students and uplift communities. As the proud dad of an early childhood educator and husband of a professor, I know how much they do to invest in the next generation. Thank you!

Eight years ago today, the Saudi government directed the brutal murder of Jamal Khashoggi, a Virginia resident and journalist dedicated to shining a light on the truth. As we honor his memory and courage, we must fight for accountability and defend press freedom worldwide.

President Trump canceled over $800 million in funding that Congress approved and he signed into law. What was the funding for? Education, housing, small businesses, and health research. He wants ballrooms and arches for himself and cuts for everyone else.

Americans pay into Social Security their entire working lives. They need to understand what benefits they’re entitled to so they can make informed decisions about retirement. I’m glad that my bipartisan bill to make that information clearer is going to the President's desk.

Bipartisan Policy Center@bipartisanpolicy.org

Good news! Last night, the Senate passed the Claiming Age Clarity Act, which will help Americans make better informed decisions about when to claim Social Security benefits. BPC’s retirement experts helped shape this bill, which is now on its way to the president’s desk.

Southside is on the move! 3 megaprojects with an expected 6,000 good-paying jobs are coming to Pittsylvania County. Proud of what we did to get the Megasite ready for development, including helping clear permitting hurdles. It's great to see this work paying off. virginiabusiness.com/past-decades...

The DCA crash was a preventable tragedy. We can't fix this airspace's safety issues without addressing congestion. That’s why @markwarner.bsky.social and I have a bill to reduce traffic and put the safety of 25 million annual travelers ahead of the convenience of Members of Congress.

On Friday in Abingdon, I met with the Regional Housing Alliance of Appalachia. We talked about how Virginia can benefit from the bipartisan ROAD to Housing Act and what else we can do to support affordable housing. I'll keep fighting so everyone has a safe place to call home.

It was a pleasure to join early childhood educators and advocates in Blacksburg to hear about challenges they face and thank them for their work. We’ve made progress to expand child care, but there’s more to do to lower costs, boost the workforce, and raise wages for providers.

It was great to start yesterday morning with @markwarner.bsky.social r and Hispanic and Latino leaders from across Virginia at our Commonwealth Coffee event! This Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re celebrating all you do every day to make Virginia stronger. Thank you for joining us!

The Trump-Vance Administration thinks AI risks are a hoax. The American people know AI safety measures are needed. Democrats will put appropriate regulation in place.

Could you ever have imagined a President threatening to annihilate another country? At our best, America has been a strong, resolute, reliable neighbor, not a global bully. We need leaders who'll bring us back to that. That isn't Donald Trump.

Farmers were already getting crushed by the Trump-Vance Administration’s tariffs. Now they can’t afford diesel for their tractors or fertilizer for their fields because of the war. Instead of helping them, President Trump is fixating on plans for a ridiculous 250ft arch! www.npr.org/2026/09/21/n...

npr.orgHow a national farm leader is dealing with record diesel pricesJohn Boyd Jr., president of the National Black Farmers Association, says soaring diesel costs are deepening a farm crisis as farmers face sharply higher fuel costs in the middle of harvest season.

Happy 79th birthday to the U.S. Air Force! Thank you to the men and women of the United States Air Force for your dedication and sacrifice. On the Armed Services Committee, I'll keep working to ensure the Air Force has the leadership and support its needs.

Donald Trump’s promise of $5,000 checks sounds like a bribe to me. Instead of making promises he won’t keep, he should focus on actually making life more affordable for Americans by ending his stupid tariffs and illegal wars that drive up costs.

This is a massive mistake. The Chesapeake Bay plays a critical role in Virginia's economy and seafood industries, and we must take steps to protect the waters and shores of the region. I'm going to do everything I can to fight this. www.wboc.com/news/trump-a...

On this day in 1787, our founders signed the U.S. Constitution—and its ideals have guided us closer to equality in the years since. But there's more work to do, particularly when it comes to enshrining equal rights protections for women in that pivotal, living document.

I joined my colleagues in urging the Department of Education to reinstate critical guidelines that protect students from discrimination in career and technical education programs. Fair and equitable access to CTE is essential to our students and the strength of our economy.

Donald Trump says he'd "bomb the s--- out of" Oman, a U.S. ally, if it gets in the way of his illegal war with Iran. What an idiotic idea. That’s why I filed a War Powers Resolution to prevent another foolish war.

Last week in Fredericksburg, I held a roundtable on affordable housing and how we can make it easier for Virginians to find a place they can afford to call home. As a former fair housing attorney, I’ll keep fighting to expand access to affordable housing.

I oppose this legislation because I worry that the passage of inadequate cryptocurrency regulation will give Americans a false sense of security and fail to protect consumers from the corruption, fraud, and money laundering that is all too rampant in this industry.

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com

The Senate failed to advance a major cryptocurrency regulation bill because Democrats blocked the measure over concerns that it does not go far enough to stop federal officials’ digital asset dealings, including President Trump’s.
