I can distill my total joy with the MacBook Neo down to working with its constraints, seeing how far I can push on them, and keeping it as distraction free and stock as possible. I've only installed design and development apps (Figma, Claude, Zed, Ghostty, Orbstack...). It's a breath of fresh air

Engagement on this site seems fairly low amongst the folks I follow. Not sure how much more it’s worth checking. At this point I’ve cut most social media except for instagram and occasionally threads. Sad, because this place has the fundamental experience mostly there.

Keen to see if Tinyforge and smaller models can run well on the MacBook Neo. I love the principles behind a small model like Tinyforge. If the you have the right context and a large enough window, it could potentially be performant and more useful than using larger models? github.com/ranausmanai/...

I've put my new MacBook Neo through some product design and front-end development paces tl;dr avoid electron apps or don't have multiple open 😂 They crush performance. Here's what I've found to be a great and performant stack: Cursor to Zed, GitHub desktop to lazygit, Docker desktop to Orbstack...

Yesterday I picked up a MacBook Neo in Citrus. I can't remember the last time I was so excited to buy an Apple gadget. My son and I saw one in Target and it just looked so fun.

My good friend Boris made a pretty indispensable AI workbench for macOS. Definitely recommend checking it out!

Introducing Alloy, a local-first AI workbench app for macOS. • Own your history & memory: plain text files you control. • Orchestrate: parallel agents, swap models mid-thread. • Flow: riff to co-create with an AI & triggers as proactive monitors. No lock-in, BYO-keys. smus.com/alloy-local-...

Why do so many startups feel the need to create videos when they raise vc or do a new product launch? It's ridiculous. I don't believe it's helping your brand awareness in the ways you think. More often than not, the videos are ai slop cringe worthy.

How the mariners pulled Woo is baffling. I don’t even blame Bazardo for his moronic down and in pitch to Springer (are you fucking serious?!). It was Wilson’s call to pull Woo. Why not put in Munoz? So dumb. #mariners

Today was almost an epipen day. After coming home from routine allergy shots, I had a severe reaction (hives, rash, throat was getting questionable). Took the incorrect amount (too small a dosage) of anti-histamine. Fortunately I live within a 8 min walk to the allergist, but what a scary morning.

The design community on x is insufferable. Lot of hot takes, ai slop, circle jerking...pretty miserable. Where have all the thoughtful threads gone?!

This GPT-5 launch is one of the cringiest I've watched in a while. There are too many presenters (apple, google, etc struggle with this) and none of them are great at public speaking. They look uncomfortable and it's hard to pay attention when it's this bad.

Pretty sure I got used by a company to figure out their hiring strategy. It sucks because it’s wasted hours and my time == money. Sigh.

In the last year alone I'd say the composition of my role as a design freelancer has shifted significantly due to the usage of AI tools. It's now a blend of 20-30%+ front-end, 60-70% design, and 10-20%+ product management. Pretty significant shift and consolidation of responsibilities. #designsky

Playing with iOS 26 on my primary device. Liquid Glass is refreshing and annoying at the same time. The best example is more often than not the need to touch, hold and swipe to reveal menus or navigate. Contrast concerns are a bit overblown. There is of course refinement to come. #designsky #ios26

It's been a while but my hyperphantasia induced anxiety (I don't wish this on anyone) is at its max right now. Literally going to go touch some grass.

Using AI design generation tools is like playing with a slot machine, completely random, usually a letdown with the occasional exciting result. By the time you're done with them, you're either creatively hungry or creatively depleted. At the end you ask yourself the same question, "wtf am I doing?"

I should have a different client rate for fixing vibe coded front-end implementations because that shit suuuuucks. It's a new kind of hell. This is not the future... #designsky

I was inspecting Airbnb's site to see how they did some of their new animations and was greeted by this delightful recruiting message in the console. I love this! #designsky
