New in PN: Retire in peace
"McConnell would never be allowed to drive a car, babysit young children, or file his own taxes. Why, then, should a cognitively incapacitated 82-year-old retain one of the most important positions of power within the national government?"
In America, we have no kings, no dictators, no despots, no nobles, no slaves, no serfs, no subjects. Just "We the People."
We are not one race, one ethnicity, one religion or one party. But we have one Constitution and one Bill of Rights.
Happy Constitution Day, everybody!
"Marshall, a Republican seeking re-election this fall, filed lawsuits against more than 700 patients with outstanding bills ... Marshall's lawyers garnished patients’ paychecks and bank accounts. They routinely charged patients an 18% annual interest rate."
Correct: Abdul El-Sayed was born in Rochester Hills, MI in 1984. Not Egypt.
Mike Roger's on the other hand doesn't want to tell Michiganders that he's got up to $2.6 million invested in companies cashing in on the data center boom. Sounds familiar? Yeah, that's how Republicans roll
Ron and Cassie DeSantis: These two crooks stole $10 million from a settlement with a charity, wired it to Cassie’s fake “charity,” laundered it through two puppet organizations, and then used it for political ads in an election year. They should be in jail.
Norm Eisen of Democracy Defenders Fund: “Please don't overreact to Roberts Court decision on the contemplated USPS ballot moves
They simply held that the injunction came too early in the process, before there was a final rule.
Now we HAVE a final rule & we will litigate it.”
"I was not shocked that he helped somebody. My shock is that he was murdered. And no one has given us the complete truth or anyone has been held accountable. And it's been 7 months! ... there was more effort in vilifying him than pursuing justice" -- Alex Pretti's parents
The President has decided that in order to make ground beef cheaper, he will cut tariffs on ground beef. And I'm wondering if he could generalize from this one product to other products, and perhaps concede that tariffs raise prices on American consumers.
The top of the US govt abusing power with even trivial things *is* the story. Federal law enforcement warped around lies and assuaging one man’s hurt feelings.
The cynical, above-it-all attitude of doesn’t matter, stop being hysterical, why not humor him for a bit is part of why we’re in this mess.
So many sneering elitist journalists with snarky posts over the past months that the Reflecting Pool story was trivial. It was so trivial that the DC US Attny presented false evidence to a grand jury to indict an innocent man to please the President while they both lied about it.
David Brooks calls Platner a morale degenerate. The same man who left his wife of 28 years of marriage for his research assistant who is 23 years his junior. Inez Stepman and Linsey Fifield both who accused Platner without evidence founded the group woman for Kavanaugh. Stop buying the BS people!
There’s been a lot of talk in this race about what makes a "real man."
A man does what’s right when no one is watching. He upholds his commitments to his family and neighbors. He doesn’t lie, cheat, & steal his way through life.
Real men serve others. Weak men serve themselves.
Could a single pundit talking about Maine bother to mention that Susan Collins was the deciding vote to put a sexual assaulter on the Supreme Court who then stripped women of decades of legally protected bodily autonomy? Seems relevant.
Buttigieg on Duffy: "I love roadtrips. I love America. I actually took a taxpayer-funded roadtrip lasted about 7 months. It was in Afghanistan. This is something very different. To make roadtrips unaffordable & then go around celebrating your own roadtrip is actually why people are frustrated about"
It seems like a Prime Minister who continues to get his corruption trial delayed for years because his government is engaged in wars has a personal incentive to keep wars going as long as possible.
🩸🩸🩸 I'm going to post this video every day so we never forget what the 34x POS convicted felon who incites political violence, adjudicated rapist & pedophile Trump did on J6 🩸🩸🩸
When Trump blinks tonight, remember...we may have dodged a disaster temporarily based on a pathetic face-saving ploy...but there is still a raving lunatic in charge of the world's strongest military.
An upcoming Montana ballot referendum would deny corporations the power to spend in state and federal elections.
If it passes in deep red Montana, it could pass anywhere. State by state, this could effectively nullify Citizens United. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1fPbGHe3xE
Iran’s people were facing a horrible shortage of water before the war began. If we are destroying desalination plants and setting fire to Teheran we are committing unfathomable crimes.
7th U.S. service member killed during war in Iran. But the significant point in my view is that he was killed from wounds sustained in Saudi Arabia. This war is branching out big time.
Kelly: "You could pick a random group of people off the street tonight here in DC and they could probably do a better job than our government is doing right now. They don't have a goal, there's no strategic plan. And what this is likely to lead to is, again, a long war with a lot of dead Americans."
Breaking News: Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, was arrested in Britain on suspicion of misconduct in public office over his links to Jeffrey Epstein, the BBC said.
If Jeff Bezos could afford to spend $75 million on the Melania movie & $500 million for a yacht to sail off to his $55 million wedding to give his wife a $5 million ring, please don't tell me he needed to fire one-third of the Washington Post staff.
Democracy dies in oligarchy.
NEW: This week, Trump and the GOP kicked their anti-voting campaign into overdrive — from an unprecedented FBI raid on Fulton County’s elections office to new voter suppression bills and midterm interference warnings. We tracked it all.👇
GOP operatives Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman, convicted election fraudsters, were paid $960,000 in the second quarter to secure a pardon for a former nursing-home operator who defrauded the government of $38 million. Trump pardoned the man, Joseph Schwartz, last month.
Voters should pick their representatives, not the other way around. Glad to get the chance to talk to some of the volunteers and organizers doing the hard work to make sure Prop 50 passes. This vote will have critical implications, not just for California, but for our entire country.
FCC Commissioner Anna Gomez explains the serious financial interest media conglomerate Nexstar has in sucking up to Donald Trump, including on matters like Jimmy Kimmel's suspension.

News Analysis: To hide the cost of renovating the plane Qatar donated to President Trump, the Air Force appears to have tucked it inside an over-budget, behind-schedule nuclear modernization program. nyti.ms/4o9OPEg
Powell called out Trump for making stuff up to smear him
"I'm not aware of that, Mr President. I haven't heard that from anybody at the Fed. You just added in a third building is what that is. No, it was built five years ago. We finished it five years ago. It's not new."
NEW: A federal judge dismisses a lawsuit challenging Wyoming’s proof of citizenship voter registration law, ruling the pro-voting group lacked standing. The dismissal comes after both the RNC and DOJ showed support for the law, which remains in effect for now.

I did an outdoor yoga class in a minneapolis park the other day. And my husband is, right now, playing softball in a Minneapolis park. My son is, right now, standing on dock fishing for northern pike, also in a Minneapolis park.
Stephen Miller doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about.
Stephen Miller: "We have communities all across this nation that 20 years ago, before the era of open borders, were completely peaceful, completely stable. Look at a place like Minneapolis. Post mass migration they're unsafe, they're violent, you cannot use the public parks."
I just put up an amendment to the Republicans' Big, Ugly Bill that says something simple:
If people's healthcare costs go up, the billionaire tax cuts vanish.
The Republicans tried to shout me down.
And then they voted it down.
The American people will not forget.
Senate Republicans blocked Senator Merkley's amendment to prevent officials from selling access and enriching themselves with crypto schemes.
They're very busy cutting health care to pay for billionaire tax cuts, but still found time to protect the Trump family's corruption. Outrageous.
